Star Trek Deep Space Nine Young Adult Novels

As a preteen/teenager during the mid to late nineties I remember this sereis of Deep Space Nine books very well, though I've not read them for some time now. I'm probably gonna dust them off and read them at some point when I go on leave.

I really enjoyed this series of books, my favorite books of the series being The Star Ghost, Cardassian Imps, and Space Camp. The books spoke well to adolescent Trekkies, at least I thought, and focused on Jake Sisko and Nog for the most part. I found Space Camp most interesting, and it showed the origins of Jake's decision to write rather than join Starfleet and Nog's desire to do so. Not exactly canon, but definitely an enjoyable read. I especially liked the part where Jake and Nog's friendship is strained over a pretty Betazoid female named Dyan.

Does anyone else remember this series?

I was in the target age group when all of these came out, so I loved them. I actually own all of the YA Trek books from the '90s.

I never read these when they were first released, but I spotted The Star Ghost, Stowaways and Arcade at a used book store a few months back and picked them up. Fun reads. :techman:

When I was in the age range, I'd never seen DS9, so they had no appeal to me. And even later, once I did watch the show, I only picked up Honor Bound because of the Day of Honor tie-in. Don't really know why.

Oh, yeah. I read them as an adult when they came out and liked them. Then I read them with my daughter when she was around the target age. They held up pretty well, as long as you look past the deadly situations Jake and Nog always ended up in!

I read them as part of their target age group. I can still read and enjoy one now in the course of an afternoon, sort of as a way of releasing my inner child, even if only for half an hour. I find years have not diminished my own enjoyment of said books.

I thought so. And even now, some minor chracters in those novels might appear in fanfiction of mine later down the road.

Just remember that if you're going to share the idea, do so in the Fan Fiction forum. We'd love to hear from you there! :)

Don't worry, that fic's to come. Let me tackle the massive crossover fic called 'Dark Realm' first.
