Star Trek Continues, Episode 4...

I would laugh (and be quite happy) if they got Tom Hanks. I doubt they could. Expressing appreciation for a fan film is a different thing to deciding that you'll take an insane pay cut and spend time you could spend being in an A-list film (and earning a fair bit) for pretty much zip.

Yes but when you have the kind of money he has; spending a few days on a recreated set of a show that he has loved almost his entire life might be a cool thing to do. Not everything is about money and he certainly doesn't go to work everyday on an "A-list film." I'm sure he has plenty of free time.

LOL, not intended to start a rumor, just saying; please don't read anything into my comments. I am speaking only from my own perspective; not from any inside knowledge. Besides, his Admiral's uniform won't be ready until the 5th episode anyway.

Well then, we'll nail him for violations of his non-compete clause he has with us.

They've just announced that their second Kickstarter will be put off until after the holidays, at the request of several fans. Production on Episode 4 will not be affected.

Makes sense, as I remember the original Kirkstarter was to handle up to episode 4.

Where he did not mention STC specifically. It was not clear which production he meant. He spoke of "episodes", where at that time STC had only one, so it could be P2 as well.

Unlikely. He said they were in "South Carolina or something like that." STC films in southeastern Georgia and P2 films in upstate New York.

He also mentioned the Kickstarter that was going on at the Time which corresponded to STC.

He might have not known that all those good fan-based episodes actually represented the output of different productions. He might not have known that all the episodes he thought were so good we're not all "South Carolina"-based and not all the episodes that he thinks are so good were Kickstarter-funded. Heck, people don't even know there is more than one fan-film Trek production.

Heck, a lot of people don't even know there is more than one fan-film Trek productions. People think "why would there possibly be more than one if those dumb things? I've gone to conventions to hawk our series and have had numerous people say "I love you guys' new Mirror Universe episode." And that's the *informed* fan base. So it's possible that Mr. Hanks was painting with a broad brush.

I have been watching Star Trek since the fall of 1966. I never heard of a Star Trek Fan Film until I saw an article about Intrepid in May of 2009. Nick took me under his wing almost immediately, but even with him pointing the way, I assumed there were a dozen or so groups making fan films. Certainly, I could not have imagined that there were more than two dozen. I figured there were probably not more than 100 or 150 films in all (Nick pointed me to Hidden Frontier, so I knew there had to be more than 50.). So, I can testify that, even with a fan filmmaker teaching you, it is easy to massively underestimate the vastness of the Star Trek Fan Film community.

I can certainly identify with the ignorance. I only started watching fan films this year, and the proliferation of them is beyond my imagination.

Tom Hanks is NOT going to be appearing in a Star Trek fanfilm, STC or otherwise. Yes, the man is a great actor and he dearly loves the original show. It's pretty vague as to just what series he showed an interest in. Okay, maybe ...

But the man has been a part of Hollywood A-list for a couple of decades at least and he knows what to do when the chips are down.
And even if Vic Mignona somehow manages to have a face-to-face with Hanks at some point and tries to cajole him into considering a walk-on, guest-starring spot, or whatever, as unlikely as that would be...I have the utmost faith that Tom Hanks' agent who has done a stellar job steering his client's career these last few decades will throw a bucket of cold water in his face, then tell him: ''Tom, what's wrong with you? you've appeared with all sorts of award-winning film-makers, you were even the executive producer of the amazing Band of Brothers and The Pacific series...If you want so badly to be in a Star Trek series, you're more than capable of doing it yourself!!"
