Star Trek Continues, Episode 4...

As much as I haven't warmed up to Michelle Specht as McKennah, I really liked her as the female Klingon in Kitumba, nicely played there.
Oh man, she was good in that, wasn't she? At times there was, oddly enough, a sort of Erin Gray quality emerging from her performance.

I hope STC revisits Vulcan in one of the off ship episodes. I'd love to see more of the planet than the arena and ceremonial areas. Of course TAS went there, but it would be interesting to see if STC can pull it off.

No love for the Thasians?
I was sure I overlooked somebody.

Orions, too. And Vulcans.

Some others: Medusans. Salt Vampire. Bird creature on Gothos and in "The Cage" and the other ape creature also in "The Cage". Giant apelike creatures from "The Galileo Seven". The people of Vaal. Kelvans (true form). Miscellaneous aliens on Triskelion and in "Journey to Babel".

Space dog from "The Enemy Within".

I'm perfectly fine with aliens who look human. I just hope they don't have goddamn bumps on their heads.

Maybe they could encounter a planet where everyone has hair like that seen on the women stationed on Moonbase in UFO. :)

They never really explained that on UFO...

I recall an episode ("Close Up") when Lt. Gay Ellis (Gabrielle Drake) was Earthside for a meeting. She didn't have a wig. Evidently, the purple hair is just part of the women's Moonbase uniform.

I read somewhere that Sylvia Anderson suggested that there was some technical reason the females donned the purple wigs when stationed on the moon. The girls never wore them on Earth.

It was only the females that needed to don the wigs. I never understood it myself; just reporting what I'd read. By the same token, we never saw a female interceptor pilot either. We did see that Lt. Ellis (Drake) was the moonbase commander, and we did see Colonel Lake (Wanda Ventham) as Straker's second in command as well.

I had a UFO Interceptor toy as a kid. If I recall, the nose missile was spring loaded and it could actually launch.

The Interceptor was a very cool looking design, but it made little sense in practical terms. One shot and then you were defenseless.

Actually, it's not as nonsensical as you might think, if you consider the interceptor instead of fighter role.

In 1950's -60's air defense doctrine, an interceptor was not a general air superiority fighter. Instead, its role was to bring down enemy bombers at high altitude as they came in. The speed and altitude meant that they were only expected to get one firing pass.

Think of the Me. 163 Komet as a tactical example.

I would assume that a"futuristic" Interceptor would have some sort of accurate weapons guidance system where all they needed is one shot. Although I remember watching the show when it first came out, I don't remember what the interceptors were actually firing at (I think saucers) or whether they had a good kill ratio.

Apparently they did have a good kill ratio and it seemed to be a rare occurence for a UFO to get through.

Back on topic: I am so looking forward to STC Episode 5 where apparently there will be an actual landing party. It should be interesting to see what they come up with. I'd prefer some type of planet set, although I may be able to digest a revisit to Vasquez Rocks. I just hope they stay away from time travelling back to 2014.

ETA (Actually to stay true to TOS, they would need to time travel back to 1969, but of course they would have to appear on stage at Woodstock. Would be cool, but ... ) :D
