Star Trek Continues and Farragut Films part ways

How many big budget movies with professional actors still fall flat at the box office.
This is key and a large part of why I'm so impressed with STC and others. If you can draw me into the story and make me care then it's a huge win. I've seen plaenty of big budget films that bored me to tears and simply turned me off because I couldn't care no matter how glossy the production.

Absolutely. Still, I completely understand a set designer, costume designer, makeup artist, etc., taking pride in their work and doing their best not to make their particular aspects of the show stick out like sore thumbs.

The script is where most fanfilms fall down. Even the few top tier ones usually have some script issues which hamper them despite all the other talent put in.

Good sets and costumes and effects cost whatever they cost, and the decision to make that investment is tough.

But at this level, a bad script costs pretty much the same as a good one. ;)

I disagree an idea costs the same, but investing the time to work a script and do rewrites costs more, but the pay off is higher, If the script works and the show is well received. Then the more likely we would support it, the greater the appeal to the audience the greater the return should be.

Fixing it on the page is always the cheapest thing.

But, sadly, most fanfilm scripts are plain bad, with wonky structures, bland characterization, tin-eared and overlong dialogs punctuated by clichéd cookie cutter lines, logical lapses, and too much fan service.

Exactly.

I am excited to see the new TMP TWOK era sets. It makes me wonder how they are making them and what sections they are building. Most of the original sets ended up getting redressed for TNG. This makes me wonder if they will allow other fan films to swap out the graphics so that the sets can double for the occasional TNG era fan film. Or allow other fan films such as Potemkin(or their new spin off) that are in that era to use the sets.

Actually, we're in the process of set construction for the bridge, transporter room, VIP lounge and Sickbay of the Starship Tristan and Starship Deimos series. Baltimore is too far of a Trek to make for a bi-monthly production schedule. But we are looking forward to seeing what Farragut will do with their set construction.
