Game Star Trek Bridge Crew, new VR game by Tom Clancy Developers

The description sounds a lot like a combination between Artemis and Pulsar: The Lost Colony, only in VR. Sounds great!

Sounds a bit like a VR version of Bridge Commander. It'll be interesting to see if they can achieve that immersive experience that Bridge Commander didn't really get to (Was still a fun game, though).

Interesting but depends on what platform, system requirements and extra hardware needed.

I mentioned the platforms and hardware in the post.

Well I can't see it having a third person view.

I think I may have just exploded with excitement...

This is what I've been dreaming of, all my life.

Thank you gods of Star Trek gaming. Could this be a return to the hey day of Micropulse/Activision/Interplay???

I am excited! :D

I am so, SO hyped for the Aegis. It looks awesome and a natural step up from the Constitution. Finally, a real follow up design for nuTrek!

Wow. That looks dull. I keep waiting for a Mass Effect or Grand Theft Auto in the Star Trek universe and they keep shoveling out cheap crap.

It is the case that there is no single player mode?

No idea. I imagine that the game might allow for the other posts to be AI controlled. But I suspect that the game is really designed for 4 human players. The cooperative aspect is kinda the whole point of the game.

I understand it is a better experience with 3 other players, but I would find it difficult to get three other local people to shell out for the hardware.

You naysayers crack me up. This is a START of the something, not the END of something. And if this goes well, developers could invest more into this game. Right now, it is essentially a "flight simulator". Next time, something more could be developed with this game. And I am sure there is a single-player mode in the works, but certainly, you could easily have an online experience with like-minded people. BTW, I think it would be cool to have a TNG animated series with the original cast, that is in continuity.

The look of the game is shockingly bad considering the premium price point of the gear required to play it (and that is assuming you don't mind big clunky head sets). If you already own a PS4 then they're option is the cheapest at $400 excluding the cost of the game itself.

Pretty sure the game is online as well, not just local MP. But still, you would need 3 other people with VR

It's aiming to be the closest thing to being there. Sort of like Artemis crossed with Pulsar: The Lost Colony, it seems, but in VR. But yeah, with the high price of the headsets, it's going to have a very small community. VR at this point is very much a luxury. But it's good to see some of the big name studios developing for them just the same. And RedStorm's been around for decades now, having done the Tom Clancy Rainbow Six games, so I trust them. This actually looks to be one of the more entertaining uses of VR. It's a step in the right direction, and I doubt it's the only Trek game Ubisoft has in its pipe.

Being that this is primarily a multiplayer game, and the community is still very small and will be segmented by what people own, what they should do is allow crossplay between PC Vive/Occulus users and PSVR. But glad it will have AI too. That's a start.

In the article intrinsical linked, I like this part:
Combat isn't the focus of the game. "Combat is an essential part of Star Trek, but it's never the point of anything you're doing. It's always the thing getting in the way," says Tate. Instead, expect exploration missions, rescue missions, and more to be revealed later this year."

I actually like that for once it isn't all combat
