What a waste of transformative technology and a solid latinum IP
on a bunch of imbeciles who probably couldn't even spell "Star Trek"
even if you spotted them the word "star".

I might have drop a few quatloos on it if it was a standard game. But I'm not really interested in VR right now.

It's an ok experience but the demo I tried was very limited, I'm much more looking forward to multicrew being added to Elite: Dangerous in 2.3 -- that's going to be terrific!

Great that they are making new games again!

Forgot to mention: speaking of VR, Elite Force works via VorpX and once tweaked a bit is an INCREDIBLY surreal experience in VR. Well worth a spin!

I didn't know that. I've tried googling for more information, but can't see any gameplay videos, with someone reviewing it.

I can't wait for the release date for this game. Just hope it will have a single player element on it, as I don't think anyone else I know will get one!

RE: Elite Force. VorpX stuff is pretty finicky and best left to those who love tinkering and messing with settings, if anybody is interested it's best to post on the Oculus subreddit or the vorpx.com forums. Of course, first person locomotion is VR poison to 20% or so of people so you have to be pretty resistant to sim sickness to try playing Elite Force in VR.

Bridge Crew I don't think is a really complex game. I know the demo version was probably stripped down a bit, but it just doesn't make sense to develop a huge Star Trek title now in the early days of VR. I think they are getting their toes wet and experimenting, much like the Lucasfilm gang who made the X-Wing minigame and the various Tatooine/Jakku experiences.

It is however, a lot of fun with friends and a good indicator of where things will be headed. I think they'll pull out all the stops when it's time for a Discovery game.

Best part was Levar sliding right back into Geordi mode.

I'm really hoping I can find a place to demo this game. It looks like so much fun, but I won't be able to afford a decent VR system any time in this year or the next.

This talk about bringing old games into VR makes me wonder: If this game turns out being a financial success, would there be any chance of a remake of Star Trek: Bridge Commander with the same engine.

It would probably require the gameplay and graphics to be redone from the bottom up (Bridge Commander isn't really built for that kind of co-op), but they already have the script as well as Patrick Stewart's and Brent Spiner's voice recordings, so it would be awesome to bring that experience to life with a new technology.

Probably a bit of a legal quagmire figuring out which elements belong to whom, though.

    *sigh* A man can dream.

I think most fans are interested in the Enterprise ship bridge feature.

I hope this isn't multiplayer only, please tell me there is a single player version?

There are AI characters that can fill out the other roles, but the purpose of the game is to coordinate your efforts socially.

Awesome, thanks. The reason i'm not keen on that is I don't really have a lot of time to dedicate to it (like an hour a week or so) so it would be hard to find other people to play with.

Outside Extra are one of the youtube channels that were allowed to do a gameplay vid.

Be aware they don't take their jobs too seriously, so be prepared!

Thanks for posting. I watched this, and thought it was first gameplay vid that captured both fun and seriousness of co-op VR experience. :techman:

It looks like fun, but kind of a "play it once" kind of fun.

10-year-old me would have turned the Earth himself to have it and the equipment required to play it.
