Wouldn't the swarm ships closest to the torpedo protect the rest of the swarm from the blast? In space, there is nothing to slow down an expanding shock wave. The energy from a photon torp should spread out at the speed of light. So if we wanted to be realistic, a single photon torpedo detonated with proximity sensors should have knocked out half the swarm at least.
"Star Trek Beyond is Star Trek because it doesn’t feel quite like what came before. That’s the whole point of Star Trek."
That's a hell of a quote.
Not sure I buy his assertion that Lin is a "jock", though.
Also of interest:
"this is a movie where the scenes involving everyone standing around and making plans for a prison break are far more exciting than the actual prison break."
On balance, I think we'd prefer this to a movie with exemplary action and mediocre dialog.
Actually, ENT had less technobabble than VOY, probably less than TNG too. You don't need quantum matrix fields when you have Captain Archer being beaten to a pulp on a regular basis!Technobabble to "Enterprise" lead. "Enterprise" to the death of the franchise nearly lead. /Joda
