Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

:guffaw:

You've got to wonder sometimes.

Do they even read their own articles before publishing it?

I just realised something that I hope won't be a plothole and is explained in the movie. Serious question here, where did spock get the necklace from? I already had it in my head that it was from Sarek but it makes little sense because Vulcan was blown up which means all of Amanda's current properties would have been gone.

the only way spock had possession of the necklaces was if

1. Sarek carried it around which seems very far fetched not to mention the necklace is for women.

2. the Necklace was given to him by his mother's family after her death

3. Amanda , before she died gave it to spock in advance to give it to the woman he would eventually fall in love with or Amanda was already aware of uhura and gave it spock to give to her at the right time.

I hope it is explained in the film to some detail
This whole romance thing is starting to look like a soap opera. How many times has Uhura 'broken' up with Spock? I like looking at the scenes in the movie where she kicks the villains butts. A strong woman who can stand on her own.

Hmm, interesting...

Billboard:
You've done so many music videos working directly with record companies or management. What is it like working with a film studio? Do they give you more parameters?

Floria Sigismondi (director of the Rihanna music video:
I have to say it was quite freeing. The idea was to come and take a look at the film. I saw it in pieces. I still haven't seen the film because it wasn't finished when I was able to view it and just extract elements that I gravitated towards it and that was it -- and basically create a standalone piece. I gravitated towards the floating rocks. They were able to give me a surreal feeling in my landscape and the Swarm ships and the nebula, so I just turned them into my story. But there weren't any kind of parameters other than that.

So is that an element that does come from the film? It sure sounds like it.

When Pine says "This is more than just a rescue mission", it's like he's channeling Shatner! (but more TUC-Kirk than TOS-Kirk)

The summer has been a bust for live action blockbusters. Only 2 were really successful. Ghostbusters is not getting good word of mouth and the Bourne movies are not in their prime. The Suicide Squad isn't well known outside of comics. That leaves ST:Beyond as the best looking. most bankable blockbuster.
I don't know about that. A lot of mainstream viewers are hyped about Bourne, and fans are hyped for SS. Beyond will be in the marketplace with them, but luckily these are three very different films.
Ghostbusters is doomed, of course.

This will be the first time.

Why are expectations so low? I still consider that STB will be a good movie. I think the audience has shown an interest in seeing it. Are these projections reliable? Should I worry about this?
I'm pretty sure those projections are based on an extrapolation of actual ticket pre-sales. So yes I'd say they're pretty accurate.

Well the core of trek is about humanity and both characters are human to some extent and humans and soap operas go hand in hand although I will not call it a soap opera like Han and Leia from star wars but I heard a rumour that he broke up with her because he wants to return to vulcan and get a vulcan wife. she can pour out her anger into kicking the villain's but. women can be strong with or without a partner and I have always hated the strong woman who needs no man ideology.

Is this appearing in theatre lobbys now as the official one sheet? (seen pics of it as a standee but not posters). In UK we got the international style poster in all the theatres now (posters and standees)

That Spock/Uhura bit in the clip is the only thing from promotion so far that created an emotional response in me and some anticipation. If they want to make me root for them, I already do.Some people, though, are finding Bones' part inappropriate because it looks like he is happy Spock is being dumped by his woman rather than being concerned for his friends. As if he's vindicated because he is divorced and single and everything is right in the world if the vulcan dude loses his woman too. To be honest, the more I watch the video the more I can agree or at least wonder if perhaps that was the intention to not make him exactly likeable but hopefully make it better by the end. Them turning Bones into a bully xenophobe with Spock is the one tos thing I really don't need to see them pay homage to in the reboot. Please no. Especially not with THIS Spock. I hope their whole dynamic isn't all like that (but honestly their 'been there done that' banter is less interesting to me than what happens between S/U, Spock's arc and the other dynamics like Kirk/Chekov, Scotty with the alien girl and Uhura/Sulu at the base) Besides, I'm starting to get annoyed at the hypocrisy of some fans who harpy on Uhura and call her naggy with Spock (or soap opera. Really? because clearly the dudebro scenes are the finest points of writing and absolutely necessary for the advancement of the main plot?) in the same breath they praise Mccoy and Kirk's behavior with Spock as 'funny' or character development. Like really. It seems like to some people only the woman is supposed to 'understand Spock is a vulcan' while the dudes can be as disprectful as they want in the name of comic relief..and it's ridiculous because she would be, if anything, the only one truly entlitled to have certain arguments with him since they do have a relationship (but she doesn't, anyway. She argued with him ONCE because he seemed to have a death wish. She never called him a robot, pointy or preached about her being better than him because she's human and he doesn't get stuff)

Where did they get that enterprise image? That's not the JJprise. Looks like a modern TOS-prise. Hmm did they let the cat out of the bag? Hmmm...
As Devon mentioned above, that is Gabe Koerner's version of the Enterprise. It's years old.

Can't help but wonder if the company just used Google and went with whatever they felt like.
