I think McCoy was pretty well served in STID. Certainly no worse than the TOS movies.
I don't. They gave Uhura and Scotty more to do than McCoy, which is a shame because Urban's performance hews closest to his Prime version.

I want to see more of McCoy and what I loved about TOS was the banter McCoy had with Spock. I hope we see a LOT of that in Beyond. It's like Uhura had a lot more air time than McCoy. I don't know... I'm not convinced that the pylons are swept back. In the Yorktown Tube, I think there is a fisheye effect there making it look weird. The attachment point to the nacelle looks like it's in the same place.
And I still don't like the new impulse engines!

so close that his is more an impersonation of the original character than an alternate reality version of him with new layers, that is what was asked him and the others to do.
Karl was offered a role in another film that would have been shooting at the sametime as STB. He had to choose which movie he wanted to be in. Reading between the lines, it sounds like the reason he was on the fence about coming back was because he didn't like STID and the direction Trek was being taken in.I'm glad Urban decided to come back. I had read in another interview a few years back he wasn't satisfied with McCoy's role in Into Darkness.

.... but looking at the screencap, it does show a difference in the new angle of the pylons. I don't think its all down to lens distortion to be in both shots. It doesn't take much to angle the pylons as the above ortho shows. I do think its odd if they did make the change just before blowing her up.
You got some of those lines? Without the reading in between?Karl was offered a role in another film that would have been shooting at the sametime as STB. Talking to Justin Lin about the movie is what made him decide to come back, not money.
Sit Long and ProsperIs anybody else going to binge/marathon the previous 12 movies before Beyond is out? Since I plan on being in a theater seat at midnight on July 22nd I'll be starting with TMP on July 10th and watching a movie each day so that I'll have watched Into Darkness right before heading to see Beyond. I figure it's not every day a new Trek movie comes out so why not celebrate the days leading up to it?
That's why I would hate to be involved with Trek officially in any way. No matter what you do...............somebody will HATE it.The pylons look just as awful if not worse than before. It's like they are slightly "bent" backwards rather than flared back like the refit was. It just looks off, like most of the design. Good riddance, nuPrise.
That's a good way to do it. But lately ive taken to watching some of the previous movies (the ones I not seen in a good while) in reverse chronology after seeing the latest one. So saw Captain America 3 then rewatched Ultron, Winter Soldier, CA1 (couldn't face Avengers1 again). XMen Apocalypse then DOFP (Rogue Cut which not seen before), First Class, The Wolverine (extended cut - again no seen it b4). So with STB will probably rewatch STID, STXI after (& maybe some of the rest that not seen in a while - Nemesis, FC, VI)Is anybody else going to binge/marathon the previous 12 movies before Beyond is out? I plan on watching just the new movies before Beyond. So a mini-marathon I guess. I'm trying to watch a few TOS-R episodes before July 22nd too because i rarely watch those and it seems fitting for the anniversary. That's a good way to do it. Agreed..for a franchise people say they love so much people sure do hate a lot of it.
A bad design is a bad design. I don't know who is doing production-design work for Beyond but the guy from the other two films should never work in this business again.
