It was odd to see it. A flashback given what Kirk is thinking on his birthday, I guess. Wonder if it made the final cut.Okay, thanks. It's been a few years since I've seen the first one.

Yes, and I've said that as well. In my post you've quoted, I used the word 'trailer' specifically for that reason.I don't expect Star Trek Beyond to be better than The Great Escape, but I honestly don't know yet since I haven't seen Beyond.
Heads in, backs out, sets course?I am good with the motorcycle. From my reading of history, once a vehicle design has come to be accepted and is used commonly, it will stay in operation for a very long time. There wil be changes in what powers the vehicle and what features the vehicle will have; however, the basic design will stay the same. Examples - trains, airplanes.
I am iffy about the design of Starbase Yorktown. For example, I see the Enterprise traveling down a tube into the starbase. How is the ship's heading changed at the station? Or is the ship transported to another tube, so that it is one continous action? Maybe I will like it more when I see in the theater.
Thank god you read my arguments and gave an intelligent counter-point
I have nothing against "view counts" with a bit of information/argument around them (how many views compared to other movies?/how many more in the last few days?).
But regularly dumping this thread with meaningless numbers ist just annoying.
Thanks for posting the trailer likes / dislikes. I think given the Ghostbusters trailer, it's quite important to see if Trek was hitting the mark. The numbers are very positive. Even some Trek purists are saying how much they loved the trailer. If you're referring to me I never saw your previous post, and my answer is: how about no?
There are plenty of reasons to post them, not least of which is the original comparison I've posted to show people how much of change in perception a popular trailer makes when the movie is going to be edited exactly the same. So there's your context to start with.. and the magnitude of the difference is also enlightening, particularly with the likes and dislikes, which some posters here were making an issue of recently.
The other comparison is the raw numbers with the previous trailer..which from what I understand, those 1st trailers tend to be the most viewed, but it's a good way to get an idea of how popular the trailer is with recent movies as well as Trek. I've posted all this info before.
Another reason is because lots of fans like to know. We keep a running tally of box office grosses when the movies come out, so the trailer views might help gauge the interest for it.
I'm sure there are other reasons, but I don't plan on stopping the occasional trailer count. I'm afraid you'll have to hide your eyes if it's offensive. That's life.

Yep, it's a fancy French word.If you read my original post again about The Nemesis Effect and paranoia about the action reputation of director Justin Lin, you'll see I have no argument with you; it was simply an objective evaluation of the concern - characterized as paranoia. Let the action be organic instead of artificially inserted for its own sake. Since we have not yet seen Star Trek Beyond, we cannot make a judgement. But there will be speculative paranoia involved until then. Because Nemesis, Lin.
('Omage' is not in the scrabble dictionary, nor others, btw, that I can find. It's 'homage.' But fancy people say "omage" for some reason).
But, Abrams Trek already has that stigma attached to it. It's frustrating to me that apparently the argument goes something along the lines "Lin=action. Mortocyle=action. Action in Star Trek=bad, therefore Lin=bad."If there is an insult, I would think it comes from the impression that Paramount is pandering to a demographic of lesser intellect. I don't think it's about the motorcycle, really.
The new trailer is pretty good, but it seems the visual effects haven't improved much since 2009. It still looks quite CGI and there's no real "wow" factor. What bothers me in STID and the Beyond trailer is the overexposure of buildings/objects and the overuse of bloom, depth of field and motion blur. I just want sharp detailed models with natural lighting and colors, that's all.
In fact, I think Enterprise looked the best in 2009:

Is this just another fan poster? It looks a bit amateurish to me: Kirk and Jayal's awkward poses, the odd placement of the title, the motorbike insert.
Surely the Swarm bombarding the deflector dish was a real "wow" moment? The new trailer is pretty good, but it seems the visual effects haven't improved much since 2009. It still looks quite CGI and there's no real "wow" factor.
Yep. From the tweeted pic, I think it's pretty clear he means recording starts today, not that he starts writing the music today. They should be able to record the whole score in under a week.Indeed, and scoring the film is different from starting from scratch. He's been writing the music for it since at least March.
Yes, this is one of those "fan truths" which may be at variance with actual fact. There were three big action sequences (dune buggy chase, Picard escaping the Romulan ship in a mini-fighter, the big battle at the end) but NEM was actually quite a talky movie. Lots of serious discussion about fulfilling one's potential, aspiring to be better, the hand that fate deals us, etc. I like NEM.Maybe I'm remembering a different terrible film with Ron Perlman dressed up as Space Dracula, but I honestly don't recall a lot of action in Nemesis. Especially compared to First Contact, or hell, even Insurrection.
Seems to be quite official. It's identified here as the international poster:Is this just another fan poster?
I haven't been able to find it on an official site, but then Paramount seems a bit lax about these things. The page you link to also shows the two previous posters, both of which I prefer to the new one. Maybe it's just an iffy (official) poster.Seems to be quite official. The last poster totally looks like a throwback to TMP.Seems to be quite official. It's identified here as the international poster:

Motorcycles are for the great unwashed.
Surely not!The last poster totally looks like a throwback to TMP.
I didn't find it on the Paramount site, either, but it does appear on Skydance Productions' page for Star Trek Beyond:I haven't been able to find it on an official site, but then Paramount seems a bit lax about these things.
