Star Trek: Axanar

The one day shoot was a scene in the Axanar script. If you follow their website, it is pretty clear who is in the video and what the scene is about.

I was told that some of it will be in the KS video to give fans a glimpse of how the film will look. That's what I really meant to say not that whole shoot was for KS, my mistake for wording that wrongly.

I think they made that very clear from the beginning - the last KS was for the soundstage and set construction, the next one will be for the actual production of the movie. I am still impressed by how they handle the fan interaction and keep everyone up-to-date. I have never seen that with any other fundraising project.

ANOTHER Kickstarter? Sheesh.

A kickstarter for the film proper was always in the plans. At least that's how I took it.

Makes sense, they have been pretty transparent about it, so that's good. I think some of the apprehension here is how much money, is to much money, before CBS just says no more crowd funding. CBS certainly knows about the project, so I imagine if they had an issue they would let Alec know. Also, if fans don't want to give, then they won't. I noticed Captain Pike is still having a hard time getting funded, so crowd funding is never a given in any case.

Both Renegades and STC have raised several hundred thousands for their projects. If CBS has a problem with that, they should have spoken up long ago.

Axanar sets the bar even higher, but seems to be the most professional project of all the fan projects out there, trying to work within the system as much as possible. Which is why I understand they need that kind of money (which is still, lets be honest here, probably the catering budget for a JJ movie).

I hope they get everything they need as I want to see a real good indy trek film that might be comparable to an entirely "pro" production, although it will never be able to compete with the Paramount movies (and it shouldn´t try that). Renegades - no offense - was a good fan film and I enjoyed it, but had hoped for a bit "more".

We surely live in interesting times with all these great projects.

Two Kickstarters was the known plan at the start for the Axanar film. That the one for Prelude to Axanar did much better than planned, the first first one for Axanr did much better than expected means the second probably won't need as high a goal as orginally envisioned. Or due to clear interest have increased the budget plan when to come to shooting the film.

What northstar said. (And thanks Lowdarzz, was just coming here to link that article myself. Sweet.)

It was sure nice to have a break from people professing to get the vapors that Axanar is fundraising again and how dare they. (Right up there with being shocked, shocked that CBS legal hasn't gotten involved. Shocked.) Maybe we can make the next break even longer. :bolian:

That definitely does cast some interesting questions on the behind-the-scenes goings-on over at Axanar. I'd love to hear Mr. Peters' response to those claims.
