STAR TREK: a series treatment starring APRIL and COLT

I couldn't get through the proposal, but the only thing I can think of is this:-

To my knowledge, there have been about 40+ sci-fi comedies.

The only ones that can truly be regarded as a success spanning multiple seasons over several years are Futurama and Red Dwarf.

Would any TV executive dream of greenlighting a comedy that not only has to overcome the anti-sci fi comedy hurdles to match that, but also tears the guts out of a franchise with 500+ hours dedicated to it?

Or to look at it another way, would the showrunners of Law and Order greenlight a police sitcom with the Law and Order name?

We all remember how well the Starsky & Hutch movie went down!

Hmm, don't thin anyone's mentioned it, but... the BBC series 'Hyperdrive'. Bringing teh funni to scifi comedy.

Actually, I prefer 'miserable failure that was oddly renewed a couple of times', but what do i know?

Oh,and I checked imdb, i can't find an entry under that name, whereas at least 5 of those who replied i'm pretty sure do have listings there.

A bit of advice I got ages back: Never compare your project to another project. The minute you say "Well my book(show) is like <other popular book/show>", you've already biased them to think you're ripping off someone else.

Coming back to this comment, wasn't Star Trek initially compared by Gene Roddenberry to Horatio Hornblower ?

Not to mention "Wagon Train to the Stars."

This thread is still around?

Well, his facebook page does indicate some lobbying. But this is what caught my eye under Work and Education:
Star Trek
showrunning the next television series · Starting in 2014
Chutzpah, thy name is zekkie.

It's been well over a year now, and 2014 is drawing to a close. Can we assume by now that his attempt failed ? He said he'd come back to tell us, of course.

It may be coming up on the Day of the Dead, but that's no excuse for resurrecting a year+ dead thread.

Please don't tell me that you were actually following this guy for over a year thinking that this was actually going to happen, were you?

No. I had this thread bookmarked because of the very interesting information in it, and noted that Zekkie never returned.

I wasn't aware that bumping old threads was against the rules.

Generally, if the thread is more than 6 months old, unless you have something of relevance and content to add to it (other than 'hey, look who's not back yet'), it's best to leave it alone.
