Star Trek: A New Age

I had a thought for this new Star Trek fanfiction series (Star Trek: A New Age). It is about the adventures of the Enterprise-A in an alternate timeline where the Enterprise-B was delayed and this occurs after the 23rd Century portion of Generation.
It has a new villain race as well. The Authum. A breakaway group from the Romulans (I made this group so I could have people who be the Romulans do stuff that contradicts current Star Trek). Late 23rd century.

I was going to point you to another topic, "Creating a realistic crew manifest", but I see that you found it. See my comment posted there.

Based on the above listing, it appears that you subscribe to the Roddenberry view that the entire crew are all Ensigns except for the ten-percent or so who are Lieutenants and above. That's fine. I prefer to have enlisted ranks in the crew. Just pick one way or the other and stick with it.

As to the list above, I feel that "Lucas Williams", your Third Officer, is wearing too many hats. I'd create two more characters and make them the Weapons Officer and Tactical Officer.

Can you post a short, three or four paragraph, example of your writing so that we may evaluate your style and creativity?

Weapons Officer and Tactical Officer are the same thing, just two different but adaquate names.

And except for Captain and sometimes First Officer, Number Positions (Second Officer, etc.) overlap with other jobs. As does Navigator. Sulu and Chekov are Helmsman and Navigator, but both are Weapons/Tactical Officers.

This is meant to be in the transition between TOS Movie and TNG (the Enterprise-A has had an extensive refit). The Federation is not at war (not with the Klingons or Romulans), though, as you should know, I have the Authum Romulan breakaway that occasionally fights the Enterprise. But, in general, this is a kinder/gentler universe where the Federation is largely at peace.

No, I didn't say that. I will read it and give you feedback on whether or not I think the story plot is good. From what you've hinted at, it looks mildly interesting.

This board is MUCH better than Fan-Fic dot-com, which I gave up reading a long long time ago, but it still gets the occasional drive-by of someone posting poorly written intro segments, either poorly thought out plots and/or poorly written spelling/grammar. I wanted to see three or four paragraphs to get a feel for your style. Just based on your general conversational postings, I do believe you will rise above that kind of drek. Nothing's worse than Trek Drek. So, given that I suspect it won't look like a fourth-grader's writing, I look forward to seeing if the plot is interesting and the characters are believable.

By the way, on this board, it's considered bad form to break up your replies to multiple thoughts into separate postings, especially back-to-back. Yes, sometimes you'll get an after thought you want to include; we all do that. Unless someone has already replied back or it's a day old post, it's best to use the EDIT function and add it into an existing post.
