STAR TREK 50th Anniversary - IDW September Solicitations due tomorrow?

So Ongoing is confirmed to be ending? No more in-between movie adventures of the Abramsverse crew?

This sounds great. I wonder if we'll actually be getting stories from each series? That is how the description made it sound.
I wonder if the Data/Geordi story will be set in the STO/Countdown version of the post-Nemesis era, or if it'll be in it's own unique universe?

I'm excited to see stories from different eras.

I'm wondering if Captain LaForge is a typo and its just supposed to be Commander. Odd for them to show E-D era uniforms and then go post-Nemesis.

I doubt this is meant to replace Ongoing in the schedule. The announcement appears to say that it's a 6-issue limited series that will be released every other month.

And yes, the current run of Ongoing is ending, but in modern comics, that often just means it'll be relaunched with a new issue #1.

Possibly -- although are the ENT rights in IDW's possession at the moment? I remember they were able to use Phlox's visage in that one TNG miniseries a couple years back, but I think they were otherwise locked out from other rights apart from that special dispensation. Could be misremembering this, however. If so, someone else here might be able to clarify it for us.
Thing is, the fact that IDW's license to do DS9 related comics expired after Fool's Gold did not stand in the way of the doing a crossover between the Abramsverse and DS9. And that was a lot more significant that "a few characters." It was the entire main cast, quite a few recurring characters, the station itself, ships introduced in the series, and aliens. They really went to town on something they supposedly don't have the rights to.

So they contain two "short stories", but it's 40 pages... so if each of the stories is 20 pages, that's not that much shorter than a 22-page one-shot.

Sorta sounds like the old Star Trek: Unlimited, but the description implies it'll be more than just TOS and TNG (even though the first one is exactly that!)

"...as created by the top talent of yesterday..." doesn't mean reprints, does it?

IDW use to count ads in the page count. So it is likely only 30 pages of actual story if they still do it that way.
