Star Trek 4 Reportedly Shelved

Let’s hope they share the ship CGI assets with merch providers so we can at least enjoy ship models and playable ships in the various games.

Also hoping for an IDW comic crossover between DSC/Kelvin timeline. With the movies sadly over, anything goes.

I have a really hard time seeing them regrouping that quickly. Paramount is a mess. I'd look for 2024/25, and possibly with a new studio.
This.

This isn't about J.J. Abrams or the Chrises or any of that. It's about Shari Redstone and Les Moonves.

I think what's most likely to happen is sometime late 2020, after CBS does some serious house cleaning, the re-merger talks will resume. And assuming they go through I think the very first two celebratory announcements will be a new M:I series for CBSAA and more Trek films.

No surprise really, unlike the TOS cast minus Nimoy and Shatner the Kelvinverse cast seem to be working outside of Trek, however we do not see much of Quinto on tv or the movies in the UK, how is his career going?

It only took two years after Paramount approached Abrams to have Star Trek 2009 in theaters. If they greenlight another movie in the next six months, it's possible to get it in theaters two years after that.
Actually Paramount approached Abrams in 2006 and then they started filming in 2007 with a release date of December 2008, before it got pushed back to May 2009.

So while the TV franchise is flying high the movies have come crashing down to Earth.

A pity, I would have liked another one, maybe with Shatner back one more time.

Arghh! :( terrible news!

As previously mentioned by others: I’m also glad that we have the x3 existing Kelvinverse movies and their associated starships, crew etc.

Fingers crossed EM make a Beyond Ent-A, and also fingers on the ‘buy now’ button when they do!

I'll be surprised if Eaglemoss ever does one. They make every other "nobody" ship under the sun, but have been very reticent on the Kelvinverse 1701-A.
They've been quoted before as saying they were waiting to see if the design changed for ST4 before doing one. Now we know there won't be a Star Trek 4...

Well that sucks...

So... another TOS reboot or a TNG one this time? ;)
Crazy as it sounds, I'd love a Voyager reboot, akin to the 1999 Lost in Space. Have the USS Voyager be dumped into the middle of Borg space and pick up Seven of Nine after an initial skirmish and boarding, take on the Borg Queen and be home in 2 hours.

Paramount is desperate for franchises. Trek will return sooner rather than later and with a new creative team.

I doubt it will be "sooner". They are going to have to re-evaluate pretty much everything they are doing with Star Trek. With multiple shows on the horizon with All-Access, will people be willing to shell out cash to go to the theater?

The general audience has zero idea that Star Trek Discovery even exists, in the US anyway. Netflix folks over the world are probably aware.

This is terrible news. I suspect Bumblebee under performing/flopping was a contributing factor. TF 5 under performed. As did the last TMNT and Star Trek Beyond. The only money maker Paramount has left is Mission Impossible. Risk aversion is a big part of the game and Paramount can't take anymore risks.

Prepare to see more Tom Cruise starring films from Paramount.
