Star Trek 4 Reportedly Shelved

I wonder if, unlike the 2 Trek movies they planned, if these films will actually happen. Maybe they'll ask Tom Cruise for a pay cut at the last minute:lol:

I would say Fallout's box office numbers guarantees at least one more instalment. If Beyond had done 450m+ I don't think we'd be in this position, but it's a situation of Paramounts own making. They are clueless.

TWOK is one of the greatest Star Trek movies because it did Star Trek so well and still had enough excitement and pew-pew to satisfy more casual audiences. It was intelligent, creepy af with the earworms, emotional when
Spock died
The new movies just never captured that range.
To be fair, I feel the same way about TFA and haven't even bothered with TLJ.

I would say the death of George Kirk was incredibly emotional. As were Pike and even Kirk's, although the latter is tainted by the ultra-quick undo button.

Spock's WoK death never really hit hard, since I saw the later movies first and knew it was a power nap rather than a true death. I wish I'd gotten to see it without foreknowledge.

I am a Trek fan first and foremost, but Star Wars is a close second for me. The Last Jedi was just terrible. Force Awakens wasn't terrible, but it was "meh." There is a chance now that I might not see Episode 9. The fact that there is a chance I won't see a Star Wars film would have been insane to me 3 years ago.

Like clockwork. I knew Paramount would be quick to announce more Mission Impossible and Tom Cruise movies. After they shelved Trek and Bumblebee flopped.
looks like MI has nabbed Treks 2 movies . Paramount are going Fast&Furious on MI

New Ghostbusters announced (sequel to originals ignoring reboot) just wonder if Trek will follow this new 'Halloween' trend of ignoring reboots/going back to originals - maybe that's what QTs movie will be now (e.g. set back in Prime TL with any appearances from TOS characters via CGI Rogue 1 style? ).

seems January is big month for announcing movies so hopefully they'll announce some Trek plans any day now.

I'm not holding my breath.

I won't be interested in a new reboot so if there is more they better use this cast or make a tng sequel set in the kelvin timeline and thus the future of this version of the characters.

I can't believe they are still doing mission impossible lol
Tbh, I stopped at the first ones but then lost interest because they became too many and standalone and redundant.
I'm also a tiny bit tired of these old school main guys ala Bond who have disposable love interests and are never allowed to have a significant other and stable personal life for more than one movie. It's hard for me to care about and get invested into characters and their stories if those are ignored or ditched in the sequels because the next creative team or director doesn't care.
I'm not a huge fan of the 'fast and furious' franchise but I do appreciate that so far (at least last time I checked) it kept character dynamics through sequels so, you know, they matter even if they aren't the main plot.

The latest MI movie not only acknowledged Hunt's wife (who was last seen in III) but she returned in a fairly important role.
