i'm guessing if the branch of the franchise that's supposed to be a direct prequel to TOS isn't doing this, neither is the big budget, flashy, far more disconnected film series.

i'd prefer they embrace the bright, shiny futurism even more. not saying they should double down on the apple store look, everyone's done that in the last 9 years, but they should try to find new ways to make the enterprise and starfleet et al feel exciting and advanced and optimistic.

but you're right, no grime. i appreciated that they added subtle wear to the enterprise in beyond, but that was part of that film's narrative, despite the enterprise being less than 5 years old.

I hope the A gets destroyed off screen and they start with the Enterprise B in the next movie. Dreadnought class.

The Enterprise-A from "Beyond" is actually my least favourite iteration of the Enterprise - ever. I prefer ALL other versions, even the JJprise and the Discoprise - to it. It's IMO actually the ONLY rendition of Matt Jeffries design I actively loathe.

So I would be very happy if they don't actually use that model, and instead create a completely new CGI model that's more in line with both the original design and the JJprise. Considering almost no one saw "Beyond" anyway and those who did probably don't remember much), I think it would be weird anyway to sell the audiences such a drasticly different looking Enterprise for a new movie anyway.

Interesting what people like and don't like. I FAR more prefer the 1701-A over the 1701. Just badass.

I quite like both designs. They both work a fair bit better in a 3D space than 2D image but the Kelvinverse’s ships have yet to offend me.

I think that's the problem with it. I had similar distastes for 1701-E and other John Eaves inspired designs, very badass, but should a Star Trek vessel called Enterprise appear as a badass or look beautiful but does badass things? I'd prefer the latter.

I think the new Ent-A looks less badass than the original Kelvin-1701. The -A is much more sedate, much closer to the 1960's Enterprise but "melted" and smoother.

I'm certain the A at end of Beyond will be tweaked for next film. Typically are especially since this version was thrown in at end

Hoping interior is much much better than JJ prize

I loved the interiors from the Enterprise with the exception of the bridge and main engineering; an apple store and a soda plant appearance just didn't do it for me. I hope there are tweaks in the design of the exterior of the A+, I would like a female perspective of what the ship should look like, and I hope the new director does just that.

I like both for the most part, but in my opinion the 1701 looks great from some angles, and ghastly from a couple. The 1701-A looks great from all sides and fixes all proportion issues the 1701 had, again, in my opinion. :)

What preferences would you change inside?

I didn't like the 1701 bridge in 2009 or Into Darkness, but it's amazing how just a simple set lighting change can make something look good.

I'm not a fan of white walls n black floors. Doesn't have to be TOS colors, but white/black would be very bright day after day year after year on a 5 year mission, IMO

No I bridge pleas, way too busy. Agree Beyond it look much better. Would like a TOS frame work, much larger, pit in.middle, no panes of glass turbo lift on both sides fine , just more visible n maybe red doors

Just my .02, each of us has their own opinions n that's great

yeah i just rewatched star trek into darkness and thought the heavy blue tint added in post really made the sets look weird. the white walls were turned blue, especially at warp. really detracted from what i think are the most attractive sets ever built for trek.

While most of the shots were blue tinted, the warp speed effect blue was achieved on set, the same way the old Stargate puddle reflection was.

Random thing I realised last night: I was googling Star Trek enterprise blueprints, and I found an image of TMP refit 1701 blueprint - which shows a thicker width ring-marking along the second concentric saucer ring, out from the bridge centre (effectively it’s the ‘circle’ that the phaser emitters sit next to - on the refit saucer)

It occurred to me, that this ‘ring’ type is also shown in some prominence in the design of the 09 Kelvin 1701 saucer - and that the designer of the Kelvinprise prolly referenced the Refit saucer for this detail.

    Comparisons links below.

Link to QMX artisan 1701 from the 09 movie:
    https://trekmovie.com/2009/05/11/qu...license-to-make-studio-scale-enterprise-more/

Image below to the TMP Refit blueprint (pre-prod art) showing saucer top:
    https://us.propstoreauction.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/75/lot/16537/

Maybe this was apparent to most, but it stood out for me - primarily because I prefer this pronounced ring marking on the 09 1701.

Any who, just my musings on various saucer ‘rings’ :P

Those are just some of the "pinstripe" details that were removed when the final tweaks were made to the model. You can see them on some early photos of the model before the bridge superstructure was changed.

Reading through the Beyond Refit Enterprise fact-file that comes with the eaglemoss diecast starship - it’s interesting to read Lin’s suggestion for the Ent 1701-A to look like a battleship, in comparison to the ‘elegant’ Refit version (which was destroyed by the swarm).

It makes sense also when you see the design at the end of Beyond - and its got me further hankering for a fourth movie that actually showcases the 1701-A, and shows the audience what a Kelvinverse ‘battleship’ is made of (or at least how different the A is from the Refit and pre-Vengence Kelvinverse Connie).

...and I also want Eaglemoss to make the 1702-A! :D

I'd like to see a whole reworking of the NCC-1701-A model, because the design is awful. Overall it gives the impression of someone pulling the curves of the Church design out in some odd directions and then moving parts around a little. The nacelles are barely attached, nearly dangling off the back of the pylons. Ugly.

I love the sets, which in no way resemble an Apple store, but imagine they will be different. I know production designers - they love to change things.

Except...this one's unlikely to have a budget as big as the last couple, which will limit somewhat the money they'll want to spend on rebuilding.
