Star Trek 2017 will not be set in the JJ-Verse

Successful? There has been two new movies. Just because they were popular doesn't mean it would make a good tv series.
Popular doesn't equal good. Ok!

Also how can you say Prime timeline/universe failed or is obsolete? It didnt fail, the series were extremely popular, other than Enterprise that is.
Popular equals good. Ok!

(they weren't that popular)

The problem is the direction of modern technology has changed since the 60s. Trek was born in the era of Apollo with the assumption that humanity would be building faster ships that travel further and further. Instead we've been in Earth orbit for 40 years with technology moving towards genetic engineering, virtual reality, and similar ideas. You can write science fiction based on that, but it'll likely be Earth based, or maybe Mars at the most. Sure you can tell a good story and use it to comment on society today, but it wouldn't be Star Trek.
I kind of feel the same way. For me, the technology has advance in many ways than Trek imagined, while staying the same in other ways. There are certainly some aspects and implications of contemporary technology that would be fun to explore in SF.

As for the new series, I would prefer them explore more positive aspects of what technology can do.

Two different popularities and formats. Movies and TV. Just because Movie was popular doesn't make it will translate good to TV series or be popular as a replacement for prime timeline/universe.

^ For setting, what are the real differences? No more Vulcan. That would actually be really easy to fix, with a causal paradox: thanks to Nero, the Federation has advance knowledge of the danger to Romulus. They save Romulus, Nero never destroys Vulcan.

Either way, if the show is set in a period we've already seen, it's going to look different. 1980s-style TV is not going to make a reappearance.

The title of the series is called "Star Trek: Constellation"
About the adventures of Matt Decker and his crew. Sounds like a spin-off of JJTrek to me.

We're just talking about the setting. There's no reason why using the movies' setting wouldn't translate for television if, ya know, you produce it for television.
If anything, the Abrams films could benefit from the slower pacing and unpackaging of different characters. Honestly, the setting and different technologies are intriguing enough for me to want a show based on the films.

Such a definitive statement, one would have thought there was something credible to back it up. Evidently not.

Was an opinion based on what I have seen on many boards/groups and sites and vast majority of what I have seen would indicate they would not want a JJverse series. CBS would be stupid to try another reboot series after failure of ENT, especially when public opinion is so against it.

It would make more sense to create a sequel, shortly after Dominion War (ex 20 years) or big jump again like from TOS>TNG.

That's just your opinion and unsubstantiated anecdotal opinion trying to pass as fact. So, no credible facts. And, the TNG era is still dead as a door nail.

I said it was my opinion so get over yourself. At no point did I assert it as fact, do you really need require a "imo" to be added to ever sentence to stop you thinking we're not all insider TV producers?

TNG era dead? Yeah, you keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better or help you bias in wanting a JJcrap series.

Yes, it is dead. It went out of production years ago. Star Trek did get successfully rebooted by JJ Abrahms, though.

Out of production does not mean "dead". It is still regularly watched on repeats on TV, home media, online etc. yes it's not in production but doesnt mean it's "dead".

JJ rebooted movies, not TV and TV is the subject here. Just because the 2009 movie was popular it doesn't mean it would make a good series or even remotely mean CBS will base their series on it.

Yes, that is what it means. Just as dead as 'Happy Days' which you can in see those venues as well. That's not coming back either.

Those audiences that watched it in theaters won't watch that setting on TV? Kirk and Spock worked on TV before, they worked in JJ Abrahms films, and audiences loved the films. Sounds a good bet for TV production.

Again, You keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.
