ST3: Why I love it

I can't agree with this at all. Nimoy had absolutely no idea how to handle Shatner and basically just let him do his thing. He's at the height of self-parody in TSFS and TVH.

Seriously? You don't think overweight Shatner climbing El Capitan in Star Trek 5 is the actual height of self-parody?

The "Genesis Trilogy" (TOS movies 2-4) is my favorite section of TOS movies and TSFS is one of my favorite TOS Star Trek movies in general. I liked the concept of Kirk and crew going rogue and stealing the Enterprise to go save Spock and McCoy and going up against the Klingons. Their theft of the Enterprise and its subsequent destruction were my favorite parts of the movie. It was gutwrenching to see David sacrifice himself to save Saavik and Spock and Kirk's reaction. James Horner's score was a nice expansion of his TWOK score. I actually wish that he would have done more ST scores in the series. The only part that drags for me is the ending on Vulcan and often will stop watching the movie once they escape from Genesis. It would have been nice to get a little more follow up from the destruction of Genesis in the next movie but, as it stands, TSFS is a great ST movie.
