But seriously, he wasn't featured in the theatrical release, but he has always had a speaking part in the extended version, and that scene is now in the Directors Edition.

My ol' pal Billy Van Zandt, the Rhaandarite ensign! (I interviewed him in 1984 before he became a famous TV writer and producer.)

Incidentally, Billy is married to Adrienne Barbeau, the mother of his twin boys. Ms Barbeau played the second incarnation of Senator Cretak in DS9.

For a great story featuring the Rhaandarite Ensign, Vaylin Zaand, as author Christopher L Bennett names him, read the ST novel, "Ex Machina"!
