Sporepedia and Creature videos

Just this part of spore alone is great to play around with. Can only hope the final game turns out to be as much fun. Also, did a few Godzillas and a creature that uses a dying creature as bait.

T'Pers0n, you must have some deluxe edition of the Spore Creator. How do you get the feathers? It appears you can also make a lot of bipedal and quadruped creatures.

Just been playing around with it...constantly since it came out.

"peackrock" feathers are cheap items you can mask a figure in and fill negative space. It's low color so it blends in with the "featherferns", "marshcara", "featherduster", and "cassoworry" wings.

Also, I put "cassoworry" wings on little limb nubs instead of the main body. The small stump limb shakes as the creature walks and the wings and feathers move a bit more.

Holding tab and rotating just about everything helps, especially with feathers. For sculpting muscle tone on legs, pick through selected limbs with CTRL down to remove and reassemble new toned legs with more joined. Use about 4 joints for the limbs. Stealing the top joint of "callypigeon" legs usually helps.

The underwater bit has apparently been cut... but the game very easily lends itself to doing expansions for new parts/environments. So I'm sure we'll see it again some day.

Awww, thats a shame. I was looking forward to designing some interesting aquatic creatures. *grump*

Yeah, hopeful though that we'll see it back later. Especially since this looks like its gonna be a major hit. And this is EA we're talking about. :)

If anyone's interested in seeing some of my creations, I have a Spore Page set up where you can download them.

Also, I REALLY can't wait for the full game. I'm already addicted to just the creature creator, and that video has me salivating for the full experience.

Edited to add: I love coming up with encyclopedia entries for my creatures, by the way. It's almost as fun as designing them in the first place.

I made a gorilla type of creature yesterday ... When I tried to save it, it took a long time and my computer crashed. :scream:  I'm going to have to try again. Looks like I've figured out how to change and manipulate body size and certain parts.

Anyone else have a problem with their creature creations disappearing after closing and reloading the game?

Well, I hate to say it, but after I created another beast and tried to save it, my freakin' computer ate it again!!! :scream: Luckily for me, I took some pictures and shot a video before my PC sucked it into oblivion.

Meet Roarshokk, the Bozanian Polar Ape from the Bozanian Homeworld and its surrounding colonies. The Bozanians, a race of humanoids with distinguished horns and a tail, are believed to be directly descended from the polar apes inhabiting the glacial regions of their homeworld. (This creature was inspired by the mugato, a Star Trek alien species.)

Man the demo is so limited. Still fun to play the Intelligent Design way.

Does the full version give you more voice and movement options?

^^^ Intelligent Design? Well, if you're talking about real people designing monsters, yes. But the whole concept of Spore is very Darwinian to me.

The full version just gives you all of the parts and paint jobs.

As neat as the creature creator is, I'm getting kinda bored with it. I want to see these creatures in action.

I wonder if the fact that I've not had the urge to create a penis monster means I'm an incredibly huge nerd, or not enough of one?

I inadvertantly created a penis creature. I didn't really mean to and had no compulsion to go out of my way to do it.

Frankly, I'd sooner make a vagina monster.

I'd like to see some vagina monsters for the sake of equality.

Problem is, the type of person who would use this software to intentionally make oversized genitals has probably never seen a vagina.
