Sporepedia and Creature videos

If you capture a video, it gives you the option to upload it straight to YouTube... no extra work on your part!

Awesome!

I'm going to get the retail version tonight. (Either buy it or d'load it. The free version is too limiting on the parts. :)).

The free version is mostly, "meh" to me, mostly from the limits in parts. Nifty, but somehow I thought you'd be able to do a lot more detail and more creature options. I also wish it was more making an intelegent humanoid creature rather than, well, a glorified animal.

I've been messing with the trial on my Mac, what neat little program. I really like the animation system.

Ok. I've the retail version. Much, much neater with a great and wider array of options. I've still yet to full figure out the "painting" process in finding a way to line the animal with fur or scales, or whatever. But here's my first major one, uploaded to YouTube. (That processes is painfully slow, by the way.)

Quatracerapotamus.

I can hardly wait for this game. :) I saw the how-to videos on creating, coloring, and animating Spore creature. Looks really cool ...

Would be nice to have a listing of taxonomic "classifications" of the different creatures you can create; for instance, bipeds, quadrupeds, hexapods, cephalopods, insectoids, etc.

Got the trial version. My computer isn't the best, so I'm surprised it runs at all. Maybe there's hope for the full game running on my system after all.

Anyway, this is my first serious attempt. Or at least my first serious attempt that I'm not completely embarassed by.

^^^ Not sure. I haven't seen any creature with three limbs, unless the third isn't really a limb per se, more like an extra appendage.

^ See my video at the top of this page for a three-limbed creature.

As for how to do it, it's finicky. You either need to place the limb so it's exactly on the midline of the creature, or you need to drag the various "hardpoints" together. So bring together the shoulder points, elbow points and appendage points and it should form a single limb.

You can also rip out sections of limbs by holding control and click dragging in the middle of the segment. And you can also attach limbs to the end of other limbs by holding down control as you drag it out from the palette. You can create a lot of crazy things this way!

Has anyone figured out how the painting scheme works?

I guess I had my own 5th-grade moment with this creature.

Anyone manage to make an evil/scary looking "Alien(s) like" creature yet?

Here's my stab at doing one.
