Sporepedia and Creature videos

It's hard (if not impossible) to make a "bony" creature, which makes the Cloverfield monster difficult.

Here's MY TAKE at the Cloverfield monster.

I think it came out pretty good. Just wish I could get harder/bonier edges out of the skull.

Only thing I really miss is the ability to make flying and swimming creatures. I'm hoping that'll be added to the final game.

Oh, and tentacles. Hard to make Lovecraft aliens without tentacles.

There's flippers and wings and other fish/bird implements in the utility. But I'm guessing they're decorative and don't necessairly make it possible to have water or avian based creatures.

It should be interesting to see how this Spore Creator would relate to the Spore game to be released in September. My understanding is that you're supposed to create your own Spore creatures and watch them grow, develop, and evolve from microscopic creatures to individuals, to communities, to an entire spare-faring civilization. If you're already custom-creating your own Spore creatures, then doesn't that somewhat defeat the purpose of the individual development and evolution of each? Or rather, do you make your custom-built Spores to use in the game?

From what I remember from the original demo video, there is some wiggle room that lets you tweek your creatures.

I think the CC is mostly for creating NPC creatures though.

My understanding is that at each stage of development opens a more complex creature creator to change your creature. I'm guessing the Creature Creator lets you pre-make the final stage of your life form and when you get there in the final game you just simply load a pre-made creature.

You have the option of skipping to any stage you want to just 'sandbox' the game. If you play from the beginning, your creature will develop along the way.

And if anyone wants to check out my creatures that I deemed 'Ready for Prime Time' you can check out my Sporepedia: http://www.spore.com/view/profile/Venardhi

I asked something similar on the Spore forum. Apparently when you start a new game, you can start at any phase you want. So if you want to play with something you made with this demo, you just skip the cell stage. Otherwise you're just making NPC creatures.

Just this part of spore alone is great to play around with. Can only hope the final game turns out to be as much fun. Also, did a few Godzillas and a creature that uses a dying creature as bait.

Nice job so far everyone. Guess I need to upload mine at some point.

Oh and congrats on building a pretty decent Ninja Turtle there T'Pers0n. :D

And for those who've never seen it, the original Spore demo from '06 that got everyone so excited about the game in the first place.

Thanks!

Been awhile since I saw that video. It's still damn amazing. Is all that stuff still going to be in the game? Could see myself playing forever :borg:

edit: Oh ok. I guess that part might have been a bit redundant.

The underwater bit has apparently been cut... but the game very easily lends itself to doing expansions for new parts/environments. So I'm sure we'll see it again some day.
