*SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in SGU"

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

Also if it was true, I don't think the spoiler should be in the title of the thread.

I'm definitely aware of the "phenomenon," but I had just always been lucky enough to already know a link was going to lead to it or had otherwise been lucky enough to avoid it.

A life without Fringe would be a sad life indeed. That and Lie to Me are the only shows on FOX I watch right now (though I'll be adding Shawn Ryan's The Chicago Code, formerly Ride-Along, when it premieres in February). The networks sadly are mostly a barren wasteland right now, with rare exceptions.

I feel honored now lol! Pretty good video though. Good song too.
Yeah, yeah. Bastard. :p

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

anyone else think this is a terrible idea?

there was just too much replicator non-sense in SG1. they just kept returning over and over. they were finally defeated in S8, but then, we see them again on Atlantis. to make things EVEN worse, they showed up in the SG1 movie.

Jesus, i can't be the only one who feels this way?

I think the replicators are a good story device...they have always have been a good plot device but they haven't always been done well but unlike Star Trek's borg they've never been done badly.

I just see this as belly aching on SGU its self.
They're trying to save YOUR show. Stop complaining.
It's obvious ratings-bait to introduce more action. Which they sorely needed.

Do I think it's going to be done badly? OF COURSE.
Look at the writing that's come before.
This ship doesn't have the tech or resources to stop replicators if they invade. They better use a planet for the encounter because with the condition of that ship there is no way it could survive an infestation.

I doubt that the Replicators would eat the Destiny unless they were in desperate need of replication. Besides, as long as human form Reps don't show up, the crew can kill them with all the guns they have, at least until they run out of ammo.

^ Speaking of ammo, why haven't we seen a zat'ni'katel on SGU? That would solve any ammunition issues, and I find it hard to believe that the Icarus expedition's equipment wouldn't have included zats. They managed to grab the case with the flamethrowers, after all; surely someone would have grabbed a case with weapons that don't rely on bullets!

Plus, I just really like the zats.

Did you not see any of their Atlantis appearances?

Apparentally there's some sort of rights issues surrounding the use of zats on shows other than SG-1 that are discussed in this thread.

But you are right, there is no reason why there couldn't have been any zats at Icarus, and there's definately no reason why the Lucian Alliance wouldn't have had any zats.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

From various behind the scenes stuff I've seen the special effects for the Zats are more expensive and man-power intensive than the producers want.

Plus certain writers have commented that the whole Zat rule of "one hit stun, two hit kill, three hit vaporize" is the worst piece of franchise mythology they ever came up with, and the one they would most like to get rid of.
