*SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in SGU"

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
anyone else think this is a terrible idea?

there was just too much replicator non-sense in SG1. they just kept returning over and over. they were finally defeated in S8, but then, we see them again on Atlantis. to make things EVEN worse, they showed up in the SG1 movie.

Jesus, i can't be the only one who feels this way?

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

Oh dear.

It was only a matter of time.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

I suppose it makes some sense when you think about it.

The replicators were only destroyed in the Milky Way during S8.

I guess they want to conclude the storyline.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

First, I hate the Replicators, even when they were just the Lego-Kinects version of the Borg. But I disliked them even more when they became human form. The idea of Von Neumann machines as an enemy for the SGC had promise, but the execution was bad.

Second, without the magical technical solutions of Carter and later McKay, and the questionable competence of the Destiny crew the Replicator threat would have to be scaled back immensely. Sorry, Rush building an anti-Replicator disrupter on Destiny just isn't going to work.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

I remember back in the day when the replicators were cool. Then latter SG-1 seasons and Atlantis happened.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

How, what and why and what?!

Hey, I actually liked the replicators, but out of all the SG-1/Atlantis badguys, with the exception of the wraith they make the least sense to pop up on Destiny. I'm happy with the Lucian Alliance and an occasional reference to the system lords thank you.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

If this is true, it's a terrible idea. A true indicator that they are out of ideas. The replicators are old hat now, very old hat. They are travelling so far out and I wanted completely new stuff. Make this a majestic series about the unknown and ideas as grand as the universe. Not tired old replicators.

They're probably thinking that this is a quick fix to their problems. It would add some action I suppose but based on a tired concept. It would be moving backwards. Really this show needs more adventure. More discovery. More WTF is going on moments. They can't do good characters but maybe they can do adventure?

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

Is there a link or any sort of proof of Brad Wright saying this?

If true, it was inevitable. In fact, a lot of people had this predicted back when the series was first announced.

Still, it sucks. Replicators were cool back in the day on SG-1. Even Ark of Truth though tiresome at this point can be excused simply because the Terminator Replicator was so cool. But Atlantis killed the Replicators' status, and if we ever see them again, it's too soon.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

Holy fuck, they cannot be serious. Fuck, an evil version of the Destiny from an alternate reality would make more sense than the Replicators.

I'm betting they're in the Season 2 finale. That's the only reason I can see Brad Wright saying this now.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

Or perhaps the midseason finale? It is said to be introducing a "big bad."
*Cue Replicator theme from SG-1.*

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

Is there a source for this statement?

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

We need a source for this statement.

ReadyandWilling, where did you read this? Or are you just making it up?

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

I did a google search and found nothing.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

^ Same here. I searched the exact quote that ReadyAndWilling put in the thread title. I tried "Brad Wright" + "Replicators" + "Stargate Universe." I also tried "Replicators" + "Stargate Universe" as well as "Replicators" + "SGU." The only result for the alleged quote in the thread title is this thread, and I can find no results for any of the other search terms I tried (except for people desperately hoping Replicators never show up in SGU, that is) on the part of anyone involved in producing SGU.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

I hope ReadyAndWilling is just "taking the piss," as they say.

There isn't a link because its not true.

Re: *SPOILERS* Brad Wright: "Possibility of replicators returning in S

Grrr...blood pressure normalizing...We need to tie ReadyAndWilling to a chair and force him to watch season 5 of Earth Final Conflict-and s5 of Andromeda, for doing this to us...:D

I'm pretty sure the Geneva Convention prevents that. Or at least it should.
