Re: SPOILER- "You see everyone in the gold, and the blue, and the red"
I dunno. You're the "shareholder."
Why don't you tell us?
Even though it's obvious that you're trolling for a fight...blah blah blah blah...
It was a little something called humour. I'm glad at least someone got it.
I trust a lot of specualtion from Dennis because he actually
wrote for TNG. He may not be working on anything Trek now (still waiting on the next Exeter installment!!!), and you may not like the stuff he's written, but at the very least he has an insight into the process that few others on this board (including you) may have.
My opinion is based on common sense coming from years of working in and around the industry and having friends who also do so.
Thanks for your continually condescending responses. That keeps me continuously entertained, as does your personal conviction that what you say actually matters to anyone.
I fail to see "humor" in what you originally posted. But hey, some people consider kicking cats to be "funny" to, so I won't claim to "get" every thing that someone, somewhere, might this is humorous. If it WAS intended to be humor, maybe you can explain how... no big deal though.
I don't "trust" SPECULATION from anyone... because speculation, by definition, isn't based upon facts. It is, at best, logical extrapolation based upon a few facts, but "stretching" well beyond those facts. I can CONSIDER speculation... and I do. Sometimes speculation proves to be true... and sometimes it doesn't. That's the nature of things.
And Dennis, if I'm not mistaken, "Tin Man" was based upon a short story submitted by you and another guy, but was reworked considerably, yes? If I'm understanding it properly, the screenplay was written by someone else, based upon the short story by you and... what was his name again? Anyway... you have a work that was turned into a Trek episode, but you didn't actually write the shooting script, as I understand things. Am I mistaken?
It's true that I've stated more than once that this isn't exactly my favorite Trek episode. In fact, I may have done so in "harsh" terms once or twice when I felt that Dennis was being particularly unfair to someone else... and that may have been inappropriate (since that's not happening here, I'd rather not hassle with it). That has NOTHING to do with what's happening here, however.
As for my "continually condescending" responses, I'm at a loss to see how ANYTHING I've said in this thread has been in any fashion "condescending." Quite the contrary, in fact. But please feel free to point out specifics that you feel are inappropriate. I don't see it myself... and being the person who was writing my words, and who was thinking the thoughts behind them, I tend to trust my own perspective on what I meant far more than I trust your characterization.
As far as what I say "mattering to anyone," well, it matters every bit as much as anything YOU have to say does. Which is to say... this is a @#(ing internet chat board, and other than the fact that JJ Abrams, Bob Orci, and several others on the Trek team read this board regularly (as well as a few other places), you're right, nothing EITHER of us says "really matters."
However, once again you've made a post which was a personal attack on me. I'm going to ask nicely here... please stop doing that. If you really, REALLY don't want to read what I have to say... you can "ignore" me. That's your call.
But the personal attacks on me have GOT to stop. And that includes the "up-front" attacks you make (which, believe it or not, I can actually RESPECT to a certain degree... even if I think you're wrong, at least you're not hiding behind "dodging" board rules by IMPLYING without naming specific names, like some people do!) and those "under the table" slams that others make which are every bit as much "personal attacks" even if they're supposed to be "sneaky" by not actually "naming names."
I know you don't like me and would rather I wasn't here in your "playground" but I'm not planning on leaving. I'm making an effort to avoid getting into a fight... I really am. Would it be too much to ask for you to do the same?
