I'd like to read some generic comment to get an idea of what to expect and also if those who watched it think that the ones who liked the first movie will like this one.. how they integrated new dynamics with both the old ones from tos and the ones from the reboot such as S/U, K/Bones etc and if people who like those might like this movie.
I also hope the story about the villain is as interesting as it sounds and will have some surprises.
Let's see if Krall can steal the spot as 'fav reboot villain' from Nero ('hi Christopher. I'm Nero' EPIC)
Where would you rank each character in terms of overall importance to the plot or screen time?
I copy and paste myself from the other thread
do you think that someone who likes the new dynamics like Spock/Uhura and Kirk/Bones will enjoy this movie?
Can you tell us a bit about the nods to other Star Trek series and films?
The Spock/Uhura thing is relatively played down in this film, though important to their character development. Kirk/Bones is stronger than ever - as is Spock/Bones.
Helm, hype factor nine, engage!Incredibly even - the crew is divided into small groups very early on in the film, and each of the ensemble gets a chance to shine a lot more than in the previous films. It's still a Kirk/Spock/McCoy film (as opposed to a purely Kirk/Spock film), but we see more of the other major characters working as an ensemble.
I do believe this is the strongest of the three new-Gen films, and may be my favourite of all 13 - though this might be from the excitement of seeing the film for the first time.
Would you specifically praise Justin Lin's directing, and was there much exploration of certain ideals or contemporary themes like you'd see in the older shows to go with all the action?
Only questions I have are...
1. Is there a new Enterprise at the very end (NCC-1701-A)?
2. If so, does it look different to the NCC-1701 from the previous two movies?
Thank you very much for discussing the film with us.I had my doubts, but Justin Lin was the right choice for this film. Visually, it was absolutely stunning. The Enterprise entering Yorktown base at the start of the film might well be the most beautiful shot of Star Trek ever made. The action was fast and furious, but all in service of the plot.

So we can compare what are your views on the other Trek movies?
what's the running time for Beyond is it longer than Into Darkness?
Don't remember - but that's because I was too interested to check my watch.
