Spock's retro look

Hi everyone,

6 weeks to go!

There has been talk of re-imaging, re-boot and alternative timelines.

All the photos and footage we have of Quinto's Spock shows a look that is identical to the TOS Vulcans.

By that I mean Vulcans appear as humans with pointy ears (no offense) and eyebrows.

Unlike the way Vulcans appeared in TNG and more recent versions of Trek with a slightly green tinged skin and slight brow ridges.

Personally I am very happy JJ's team decided to stay with the way Vulcan's looked in TOS.

which other vulcans have we seen? there's the image of ben cross with wynona rider. can't make out forehead ridges there. any others?

quinto does look smooth. much smoother than nimoy. but did tuvok have ridges? i think green-tinged skin makes sense... especially since their blood is green.

Agreed. It's good that they didn't "movie-fy" him with gills or something just to add detail and because they could.

I do note that he's more "ruddy" than TOS Spock was (who was made-up a bit yellowish, presumably reflecting his copper-based blood), but I can live with that (Look, Ma, no gills!).

Vulcans were depicted in TOS as having skin that wasn't exactly caucasian in color.

Also, 24th century Trek did NOT show Vulcans with slight ridges. Romulans, more than slight. Mintakans, likewise, but not Vulcans.

It'd be okay for Spock, but not for Sarek. Didn't have that type of hair in JOURNEY TO BABEL.

Stonn and T'Pring didn't have the Moe Howard look either.

Neither did some TOS Romulans we saw (reporesenting both genders).

It's been stupid for Paramount to always show ANY Vulcanoid since then as having a sugarbowl haircut. Not all humans have the same hairstyle. Why would all vulcans, let alone other Vulcanoids from different worlds?

I have a feeling the Klingons are those guys in the metal masks seen in the trailer -- and they will not be seen in this film at all without their masks.
