Spock YELLING

I think the real question should be, why didn't Spock shout more after the first few episodes of the show?
Well he did have one more very memorable and very horrible shout 40-something years later in 2013...

I think it was a throwback to being on board a submarine. An order would be announced out loud, then echoed by one or more people responsible for actions tied to that order. Roddenberry had an affinity for military stuff... wouldn't doubt if he had this in mind. The Starfleet ranks are Naval in nature, as opposed to other branches of the military.

Not as bad as Number One shouting into the communicator to the Enterprise that they need "INCREASE TO FULL POWER! CAN YOU GIVE US ANY MORE?"

When Spock tells her that the circuits are beginning to heat up, she yells "DISENGAGE" at the sky. Her voice must really carry because the beam does indeed disengage.

That's presumably why Spock shouts, so he can be heard over Number One.

She actually sounds okay to me. She was yelling to be heard over the laser cannon, and if living in the 21st century has taught us anything, it's that lasers are incredibly loud.

It's logical to assume that he studied this as a command technique to ensure that his commands were heard and understood...and that certain commands were differentiated in terms of their criticality.

Maybe he received feedback on a performance review that his command style was too "flat" and that he needed to juice it up. Later, when he and the crew had a better feel for each other, he dropped the technique because it was no longer necessary.

In real life, leaders get this kind of feedback all the time.

"WE CAN ONLY TAKE A FEW MORE SECONDS OF THIS!!!"

And my absolute favorite Spock shout out....

"SHE'LL BLOW SOON!!!"
