Spock on DS9....

Would you have liked Spock to have guest-starred in DS9?

What do you think of the idea? With Leonard Nimoy expressing the desire to have been on the show as Intendant Spock for a MU episode, would you have liked to have seen Spock as a semi-regular guest-star? Someone who pops up every two-three episodes in a season?

For instance.... During season 5, Sisko recruits the help of Vulcan Ambassador to try and seek negotiations with the Dominion, pre-"In the Purgatory's Shadow", and they fail, much to Spock's gargin. Later, in season 6 he re-appears, following "The Pale Moonlight", and is seen throughout the rest of the season as a sort of Admiral, after officially returning to the force to help in the war.

Well, what do you think?

Spock would have been awesome vs. Weyoun. The Sisko couldn't really hold up to Weyoun's diplomacy skills, but Spock could. Woulda been fascinating to watch those two verbalize. For that reason I say heck yes to Spock on DS9. If he did appear he shouldn't be wasted on MU episodes though.

Ida loved to have seen Spock on DS9. Even the MU. Seeing Mirror Spock again would have been quite groovy. And tied it all together.

I would have been cool with Spock making an appearance on DS9. That would have been cool.

But then, in general, I am much more amenable to TOS characters making an appearance than to TNG characters making an appearance.

I felt Frakes and Sirtus got shoehorned into too many Trek episodes for their own, or anyone else's good. But The TOS characters were never shoehorned in so blatantly.

Completely agreed. Its enough the actors playing them directed episodes, no need to see them more.

That said, I'd have liked to have seen that Captain from "Chain of Command", from TNG
... He would've been a good Captain alongside Sisko. Good DS9 material.

I'm fine with him not having made an appearance. But this does raise an interesting question. Assuming Spock was still on Romulus when the Dominion War kicked off, I wonder what his opinion was about the Romulans first passively aiding the Dominion, and then subsequently fighting against them with the allies. I guess in theory the latter helped his goal of unification between Vulcan and Romulus. Seems like the events that took place during Nemesis would make that even easier with most of the Senate dead. Way off topic...

Well, guys like that - the one-off TNG characters - are a different matter. I was chiefly talking about the main TNG cast as the topic was Spock, who was a main TOS cast member.

There might have been the odd TNG one-off character who would have worked - especially a Cardassian or two, perhaps. Or a Bajoran or two.

But in terms of the dastardly duo of Frakes/Sirtus...I'm glad that we only got one of them...and that, only the once in the form of TOM Riker! :D

I liked Tom Riker. Always did. I was hoping they'd bring him back in season 6/7. If only to fullfill Nerys's original promise to him.

You gotta admit, Tom Riker has more of an edge than Will Riker ever did...

^ Agreed.

They probably should have followed up on the Tom Riker issue more closely. Especially given that promise made by Kira and the intervening war.

Tom Riker I didn't mind...and the character actually didn't need to be shoehorned in. He was spunky on TNG and that worked for him (and the plot) in Defiant. That was an easy fit.

Now...shoehorning Will Riker and Deanna Troi onto the finale of ENT???

THAT, my friend, took a shoehorn the size of Montana.

Sure, I would have liked to see Spock on DS9. Or any of the TOS or TNG cast they could reasonably include; provided they had a strong story and good script to go with it. So I wouldn't want Spock for the sake of Spock; or Geordi for the sake of Geordi; but Spock used in an intriguing way would be good.

Well, or an effective cameo; like Geordi in VOY's "Timeless".

QFT.

I voted 50-50, for the same reasons Kegek lists.

When did Nimoy express that interest???

I think it would have been best if the Unification story was continued in some manner. Maybe Spock is a key to the Fed-Rom talk initiated by the Dominion War. There definitely would have been room for him, and it becomes especially appealing when one considers that it could have tied up the loose ends left by Unification.

I would have gotten a kick out of seeing Mirror Spock again; it would have made better use of the less-than-stellar Mirror episodes we ended up getting. I don't remember if Nimoy actually expressed any interest in appearing as Mirror-Spock, but I do remember some rumors about the possibility at the time.

DS9 is my favorite Star Trek series, but Spock will ALWAYS be my favorite character. If he could have appeared on DS9 in a real fashion (not counting Trials and Tribblelations) I think I would have been on floating on cloud nine!

I really like that idea! I think that could make for some interesting fan fiction.
