I ain't PC. Being an old broad, I'm just old enough to know better.

Which may be why I don't read any of the above publications. Time is short.

Spock is gay, but it doesn't matter if the actor playing him is gay or straight.

;)

Honestly? I think he just might be gay. I don't mean to point fingers but the fact he wont comment on his sexuality might just hint at that. When a celeb comes out it sends paparazzi and fans into a bit of an uproar. It might also unfortunately make some close minded people angry. If he were straight, what would he have to hide? But thats just my two cents...

In any case, it doesn't matter nor should it ever matter. Zachary Quinto is without question one of my favorite actors. Hes good at what he does and he looks damn fine doing it!

I would not care if he is gay, bi or straight. He is never going to be an option for ME anyway :D No matter how hot he is.

The OP reminds me of some people I knew back in high school.

That's not a good thing.

That's right. Straight people have nothing to hide, while being gay is totally embarassing. Like, why would a straight guy keep their private life private? They should be telling everyone that they're straight, and parading with their girlfriends for everyone to see them, so they can tell the world "See? I AM STRAIGHT! SEE HOW STRAIGHT I AM!" In fact, it is really suspicious when someone doesn't talk about it in every interview: "Oh and BTW? I am straight! Did I mention that I'm straight?" "I've heard that there are some rumors online about me being gay? Well, I'm gonna tell everyone that I'm 100% straight! Do you want to take a pic of me and my latest girlfriend?" Now that would be a normal, expected reaction from any straight man. :shifty: :vulcan: :cardie::evil:

Heck, Howard Stern peppered JJ Abrams with the question and Abrams dodged it...

Is it "dodging" to refuse to answer something which is not up to him to choose to reveal or not, if true?

"What does it matter?" (already answered earlier in this post)
It's not so much the discussion in and of itself as the way the OP was phrased, with exclamation points and gay in all caps as if it would be some kind of massive shock or outrageous revelation.

If a gay man or woman chooses to come out or promote gay-related events, then there's no issue with discussing it. But when you post "Spock is GAY?!" besides making the inaccurate connection between character's preferences and actor's preferences (something some people seemed to have a problem with with Sulu/Takei as well), it begs the question of why you find the fact that an actor might be gay so amazing.

"TrekBBS is supposed to be above this non-sense." Ummm...yeah..right.

"Didn't you know that talking bad about someone who might be gay on this site can get you censored??? Well, to which...oh oh...wait...the thought police (moderators) are cutting in...oh my god...they got me...call for help..."

WE INTERUPT THIS POSTING FOR THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT

Need help carrying that cross?

Spock has been gay for a long, long time. You obviously need to catch up on your fanfic. :D

As for Zachary Quinto, perhaps it would be appropriate for all of us to mind our beeswaxes until such time as the guy decides to share his private life with all of internets fandom. Yeah like he's that dumb. :rommie: He should just tell everyone he decided to become a monk.

I've assumed he was gay since I first saw him as Adam Kaufman on season 3 of 24. But maybe Adam Kaufman the character was just gay.

That's what I thought! I was intrigued by the notion that 24 just up and decided that one of the CTU employees should be gay, without integrating it into the story at all. After all, the fact that, say, Edguh is straight (???) wasn't a plot point in the story. Now I wonder if Quinto just decided to do that on his own initiative.

Does it really matter.

It matters as much as anything else about celebrities that people gossip about.

In that case, can we try to figure out what Karl Urban has for breakfast? Much more important!

Was it Zachary Quinto? :D

Bad me, this is how rumors get started...

Oh wow, my bad, I didn't mean to come off like that. I don't think being gay should ever be something to be embarrassed about. Lets see if I can rephrase that...

People get unnecessarily excited when a celeb comes out. Magazines will cash in on the news, people will talk, it'll last a week and then it'll be over. Its unfortunate but it happens. Thats Hollywood for ya. I don't think its exactly the kind of attention anyone wants to receive.

Make sense or should I just shut up?

Gah, I'm a sad case, aren't I? First thing that popped into my little brain.

However, here's the counterargument: No gay guy in human history has had a fashion sense this bad. (Ignore the posed photos where someone is choosing his wardrobe; the damning proof is in the "civilian" shots, heavy on the redonkulous hipster headwear and mismatched plaid.)

The whole gay man=fashion sense thing???

:brickwall:

Please..

I know plenty of gay men with no fashion sense, and while we're at it, I know many jews who are poor, many blacks who aren't drug addicted criminals, asians who are great drivers, catholics who aren't pedophiles, and loads of hispanics who don't work in a kitchen or a hotel!!

Ugh.

This is exactly why I hate these kinds of threads!!

Honestly? I think he just might be gay. I don't mean to point fingers but the fact he wont comment on his sexuality might just hint at that.

So if he did comment - and it was a deliberate lie - would that make you feel better?

When actors undertake their acting training, they do lots and lots of drama exercises that help them to drop their inhibitions. Anyone who has learned to drop their inhibitions may find it easier to think of themselves as open to omnisexual experiences, or at least can get themselves into a headspace where they could act as if they were open to omnisexual experiences.

At the very least, bisexuality doubles their chances of getting a date.:guffaw:
