Spock Autobiography - David Goodman

Mysterion

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Well, this seems to have been pushed back. Amazon had been listing with a release date of 6 August, but it is now listed with a release date on Next April.

Bummer. I've enjoyed Goodman's other Trek boos, and had been really looking forward to this in the next couple of weeks.

I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that the delay is to allow revisions so additional material from season 2 of Discovery can be incorporated.

Canadian Amazon actually had the April date up last month, though at the time American Amazon still listed August. So I infer American Amazon has now gone to the April date as well?

Well, at least I don't feel bad having to wait until April now and everyone else getting it a few weeks from now.

I'm also assuming the delays are him writing around his "The Orville" duties along with the comic miniseries he's doing.

I thought there were plans for more? Regardless, those four issues are two separate storylines, so it's not really a "miniseries" per se.

It's never been a requirement in comics that a miniseries tell a single storyline, merely that it be finite in length. DC's first Star Trek: TNG "Six Issue Mini-series" (as it was explicitly billed on the covers) was mostly episodic; its six issues included two one-parters, a three-parter, and a closing one-parter.

Has anybody heard anything about whether or not this going to deal at all with Micheal and Spock's relationship?
With the ways Season 2 of Discovery ended, I could see it going either way.

Well if it's written from an in universe perspective, then wouldn't he be sworn to never mention her?

Yes but the Autobiography of James T. Kirk spoke about the Guardian or Forever and slingshot time travel and loads of other dangerous stuff that there's no way Starfleet would allow to become public knowledge.

Besides, Michael Burnham is alluded to in the Picard Autobiography. What I'm actually wondering is whether this will mention Sybok given the Kirk Autobiography referred to TFF as in-universe fiction.

Apparently pushed back yet again - Amazon now has this pegged for September 8. 2020.

Any bets if this ever gets written? I'm guessing Goodman won't schedule time to write this until after The Orville wraps, and only then if he can't get another TV writing gig after that. He probably makes more every week on The Orville as he would make spending 3 months writing this book.

Uh oh. Are they getting gun-shy about the book? It's about Spock! Have the Kirk and Picard books done okay? This new one is about Spock, he is iconic. And with the second season of Discovery so recent, there's incentive to strike while the iron is hot. What is it with publishers, sometimes?
