Ugh, just remembered that the decon procedure in the 2150's was for landing party members to rub some kind of slimy goo all over each other.

They actually had a decon chamber. Not sure what slimy goo are you talking about? Is that why Malcolm is smiling?

This is TAS episode I was thinking of "The Slaver Weapon."

The life support belts emitted a personal force field around its user. Here's the info on Memory Alpha,

They could have just used any belt like McCoy used on Spock in Spock's Brain with some blinking light(s) to show it was activated. I always thought the life support belt shown and used in TAS was so brilliant and cool (science and reality aside). With animation, of course, they could more easily show a glow around the user.

On that Memory Alpha page I listed earlier, I thought this was interesting -
