Spock and Kirk pictures

I don't know... I just can't see these two as a believable Spock or Kirk. The makeup guys must be following Westmore's methods of making Vulcanoids look like plastic figurines.

And Kirk... Well, Pine was a terrible casting from a visual standpoint. He looks like a scrawny child -- and that black tee doesn't do him any favors. This is not a strong/fit man that I could believe will one day survive long enough to kill Gary Mitchell, endure the heat of Vulcan to fight Spock during his Ponn'Far, or fight with the Gorn on Cestus III. LOL. That lizard would snap this guy like a twig.

Why does Quinto keep pursing his lips like that? I hope Spock isn't going to be whistling throughout this film.

I believe it means forehead. And I must agree. It's almost distracting.
Really? It doesn't look large to me but rather narrow and small -- moreso than Shatner's -- as if his skull comes to a point under the hair. In fact, his head looks a little shrunk, like a gymnast's, giving his features here a pinched look (compare the distance between the eyes and mouth, for instance, to Quinto's). However, Pine does have a high hairline.
You know, you've made that statement before, about the "shrunken head of a gymnast"; it strikes me as coming somewhat out of left field and I have no idea what you mean by it.

Would you care to enlighten me?

Anyone else know what he's talking about?

Well, I think it's more that all his facial features are sort of squished down into the lower half of his head. If you look at the 3/4 profile pic:

While Quinto and Pine's chins are about the same level, Pine's eyes are noticeably lower than Quinto's, and yet Pine is closer to the camera. I'm not criticizing, but it just sort of sticks out in these types of photos, especially with the differing hairstyles. My noggin is similar, I have a taller than average forehead. Sadly, the rest is about a hundred times more doofy-looking than Pine's. :)

Well I have to admit the last time I saw Chris Pine in a movie was some cheesy romantic comedy with Lindsay Lohan and he wasn't looking very macho...

I think that has to do with Spocks inquisitive nature. I think it really sells the character, though seeing it in so many pictures at once overdoes it by drawing too much attention to it.

Those pictures look great ... except somebody dropped the ball with the airbrush. Poor Quinto, heh; The man has very dark, thick eyebrows and apparently they hadn't been shaved at the time these pictures were taken. :guffaw:Just the same, he makes an excellent Spock! Loving these pics.

And 5'8" Shatner was the picture of strapping masculinity? Are ya kidding me?

Besides this is Kirk before he got his man-weight, which only happens to guys after the age of about 28 or so.

I Grok Spock said:

Exactly. It's not a receding hairline, it's that his features are way down his face. It's a little odd.

Based on their expressions, I think Spock has a hold on Kirk's man weight, or is this his phaser?

Sweetie, if that's what you look like when someone has a hold of your man-weight, I feel for your boy/girl-friend, 'cause apparently you stare off into space like a store mannequin, and that sure ain't what I'm looking for in moments like that. ;)

I THINK SPOCK SHOULD BE CONSTANTLY WHISTLING.

Or make a music video singing about Bilbo Baggins...

You know in all of the back-biting, vitriol-laced posts in this forum, this is the first time I've ever had to say this:

That, my friend, was really uncalled for.

Now I'm going to be haunted by that song for the rest of the day!

Man weight, thats a good one. I have been telling my wife its her cooking, but Its actually a Shatnerish reason. Cool.

Key, Kirk is just that cool under pressure. You know keepin' in on the down low.

Man weight doesn't mean the weight a guy puts on around the belly after he gets married. It's the filling out around the jaw, neck and shoulders men undergo usually just before the age of 30.

For example: Leonardo DiCaprio before man weight (age 23):

And after (age 32):

Kirk's never been cool when aroused. Don't you remember all those reaction shots when a hot chick would enter the scene? He always did a double take like his dick just jumped up and slapped him in the face.

or fight with the Gorn on Cestus III. LOL. That lizard would snap this guy like a twig.

Is that the lizard that could barely move its legs and took 2 minutes to swing its arms around ? :p
Besides it was intellect that defeated that one.

I got to go watch that fight again....It's so bad it's gooood

I'm not seeing that at all. I think Pine looks great in these pics, and reminds me an awful lot of the young Kirk (emphasis on the young, which everyone seems to keep forgetting about this story).

As he doesn't all THAT scrawny to me. Certainly no more than Shatner in those early episodes of TOS.
