That's a first season episode. MA places their first meeting in 2261. So, SNW's current (third) season.
I wonder if fandom would have a fit if Kalomi's recast was Polynesian? ( as originally intended)

if this was RL, I'd say Spock is doing it to tick Christine off. Make her jealous, so to speak. But this ain't real life and this is Spock. He don't lean that way.

We kind of got that impression way back in Season One.

Christine is commitment-phobic. They were pretty explicit about it in "Spock Amok."

Interesting possibilities here:

Korby will go off to Exo III, leaving Christine behind to wait.

Will he ask her to come with, and she declines?

Or will he seize a career opportunity at the cost of being with Christine?

Either way, it should be uncomfortable fun to watch...

I very much hope that they don't introduce La'An as the next love interest. Sadly they seem to be heavily implying that they will. A strong friendship would be great but watching Spock leap into another relationship directly off the back of heartbreak would be a terrible idea. It would also be very disrespectful to T'Pring.

And also explains why T’Pring want to kill him.

eaping into yet another women's arms would undermine any connection with both T'Pring and Christine. If it isn't Christine then I think we need to see him go back to T'Pring and try and make this work (which TOS seems to indicate does happen).

Who says that Spock and Christine won’t briefly get back together before the series end?

I would be horrified if they moved him onto La'An and then onto Leila. He won't have time for any science as he'll be too busy

Korby comes off visually and story-wise as a typical TNG one-shot romantic plot point character. He's even been through the checklist:
overtaken by powerful mind-rapey alien
stolen powerful artifact and had it come back to haunt him.

next up we need to find that he's hidden some valuable secret that will come back to haunt him and reset the original relationship of the two crew members he interfered with, Riker and Troi I mean Spock and Chappel, back to status quo. Honestly I'm surprised he's still on the show. At least give him a ridiculously huge cat to make him slightly likeable.
