I received a Kindle for Christmas last year and while I was searching for space operas I came across a series of e-books, some of which are free, that I really enjoy. The books are from Randolph Lalonde and they follow a guy that goes from being an outer space air traffic controller to a fighting captain/privateer. The first of the e-books "The First Light Chronicles" are (or were) actually free. If you have time and the interest take a look. I'm currently enjoying the series.
