Spider-Man: Homecoming' anticipation thread

It's the official logo, too. Here's Tom Holland on stage debuting it.
I've heard that the Homecoming title is presumed to connect to the high school setting of the movie, but I just realized it has a more metatextual meaning, because this is the movie where Spider-Man "comes home" to Marvel Studios (even though Sony's still producing it).
They've given it a terrible title and a terrible villain. It's almost like they're rubbing it in Sony's face.
Are you kidding? The last thing Marvel would ever want to do is sabotage Spider-Man. He's their most beloved character. His image has often been included in the company's logos, symbolizing Marvel much like Mickey Mouse is used to symbolize Disney. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they tried to handle Spider-Man badly on purpose. Especially after the past two movies gave Sony a reputation for handling him badly, and led to Marvel finally regaining control of their most important franchise. This is their chance to prove that they can handle the character better than Sony did. Everyone's expecting them to handle Spidey better. That's a lot to live up to. So there's no way they'd deliberately set this movie up to fail.
Also, the buzz is that the Vulture is not the main villain of the film. I get the impression he's more the opening-sequence villain, like the Rhino was in ASM2.
It's a bit TOO on the nose. We get it MARVEL. Your favorite son is back.
The title sounds like it comes from comic book arc. Which I believe it does. One of them being a Mary Jane title, which they've confirmed is one of the lead influences of the movie

Several MCU movies have subtitles that have been used in the comics, without necessarily having much in common with the comics of the same title -- The Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron, Civil War, Ragnarok, Infinity War. So that's not too surprising, and it doesn't really reveal much.
I know they're not setting up Spider-Man to fail. More like they're saying "look, we can give it a silly title and a dumb villain and still do better than you."
If the Vulture isn't the main villain, I guess they could go with Mysterio or Hydro-Man if they don't want to tread old ground.

How would Mysterio or Hyro-Man be treading old ground? We've never seen them in movies before. Mysterio has actually been one of my choices for a villain we haven't seen on screen before.
That was actually my first thought when I saw the title.
I'm not fussed on either the title or the logo but ultimately, I won't care about them so long as the film is good.
I've read elsewhere that there was a comic called Homecoming which focused on Spidey returning home and dealing with the events of the Venom symbiont. Some speculated that this would borrow elements of that comic but instead of Venom he'd be dealing with the aftermath of Civil War.

I guess moving on to Spectacular Spider-man was deemed too much by a series of suits in a meeting.
I'm digging Vulture though and do wish we'd gotten Raimi's version with John Malkovich as Adrian!!
I like Mysterio as well. Hydro-Man is more thug muscle than main villain, he's a poor, poor man's Sandman.
Kraven though is one we all are surely waiting for!

Hmm... Keaton's too young to play the Vulture, unless they de-age him. But maybe Miles Warren/the Jackal? Or Chameleon -- he could work. Maybe Scorpion or Roderick Kingsley.
Didn't I hear a rumor a while back that they were planning to use Kraven as the villain? I don't think Keaton would work there.
