Why is it out of place? They were doing a "Crazy year we've had, huh?" recap for the school channel, so why not have a video memorial as part of that?

Agreed on both points.
Having rewatched this this week I still can't say enough good things about Tom Holland as Spiderman.
Toby was too old and Andrew was just wrong for the role.
Tom's Spiderman acts like the teenager he is supposed to be.
He blows off Fury to be with the girl he likes.
He makes a bad decision because he trusts a devious adult.
The call to Happy because he "Needs a ride" but also needs help fixing the bad choice he made.
In general, he acts like a teenager.
I don't care about the infighting by Sony and Marvel.
Someone else said it better "Idiots fighting over how to spilt up the eggs from the golden goose".
I think a movie with Spiderman and Captain Marvel teaming up is a great idea.
I enjoyed when they met up in Endgame "Hey, Peter Parker".
It was a quick scene but they did have a big sister\little brother chemistry.

I suspect the Peter/MJ bit was cut for redundancy because there's that little bit of hand-holding as they're walking through the airport. I tend to agree that the latter is a better way to show that particular character beat and doing it twice undercuts the impact.
Originally, there was suppose to be such a scene (sans Carney) in Into the Spider-Verse but it was cut from the script out of fear of doing too much. Hopefully they'll do it in the sequel.
Yeah, I suppose but I still like the scene. It's not a big deal that it was omitted.
