Spider-Man: Far From Home. I finally saw it!

At one point in time it used to be "okay" to bump "dead" threads so long as whatever you were adding was significant or meant something. The general idea being so as to not clutter the board with several threads about one topic when one already existed.

Over the last few years I've seen a lot of backlash on thread bumps, even when meaningful stuff is added, resulting in a locked thread.... So I'm starting a new one.

After "Endgame" I pretty much checked out of the MCU. It seemed like a good cap on it, and I've not watched too much of the stuff that's came out sense but I'm interested in seeing the latest Spider-man movie but I'd never watched FFH, even though I had the Blu-Ray of it.

Anyway, I watched it this afternoon. (I'll watch NWH when it comes to streaming.)

And, well, I liked it. It was pretty good, and not what I remembered expecting from the trailers.

One thing I don't get is that... Mysterio's plan seems kind convoluted and on the level of The Joker's plan from The Dark Knight where it seems like a lot of things have to sort of click into place just right for it to all work out in his favor.

I mean, first of all, he had to know the Skrulls would be standing in for Fury and Hill as their incompetence was a factor in him getting as much power as he did, and he had to pretty much bet the entire thing on Parker giving him the glasses? I mean, did he know about the note in it? What made him so sure Peter would hand them over?

And when they were handed over why not lock Peter our of them just in case he ever figured it all out and managed to get them back?

I dunno, it was good it just seemed to be missing some "spark" or click I think Marvel/Disney has when they're in control and Sony was kind of fumbling the balls here.

NWH mentions that the Dept of Damage Control was aware that Fury was offworld, it's possible that Quentin Beck had spies in the DODC that informed him about it.
Anyway no one on Earth knows about the Skrulls standing in for Fury and Hill, except for perhaps other Skrulls.

BTW, I thought Fury was publicly assumed dead after CptA:TWS and had kept a low profile ever since.

Well I'm glad you started the thread. I watched it a few weeks ago.

I don't see how someone can like it.

Yes but worse than convoluted, it seemed nonsensical and pointless.

Well, with HYDRA gone (a couple times over counting Agents of SHIELD), there's no reason he couldn't have come out of the cold a bit.

All these damn home movies! I couldn't figure out why you created a thread for this when we already have one until I realized this is about the previous movie.

I don't understand when they revealed that Peter Parker is Spiderman, not one of the Skrulls couldn't copy Peter, so everybody can see both of them

My threshold for "liking" something is fairly low, I mean for better or worse I like Thor: Dark World and, really, I'd probably put FFH on the same level as it which, in the grand scale, is on the lower end of my ranking of the MCU. The lowest being Iron Man 3 and The Incredible Hulk. Honestly, I pretty much completely don't count TIH as being part of the MCU.

I love this movie. It was quite a spectacle in the theater. I had more fun watching it than No Way Home.

That might work for Superman, but unless "Spider-Man" takes his mask off too in that scenario it doesn't prove anything other than "more than one person can wear the suit". Also, this is the guy who had a fleet of illusion projecting drones at his command. I think more trickery is only likely to backfire.
