Spider-Man: Far From Home anticipation thread

I dunno, I think Spiderman is fine in cosmic threats, it's just he should be part of a team when that happens.

But I feel like a big problem is a lot of the kind of things I'd like to see Spider-Man involved in. The romance, living on his own, and so on are inappropriate for Tom's character.

The high school spiderman is actually quite limited.
I'm not usually that big a fan of high school Spider-Man, but in the case of the MCU I actually like it. It's a nice way to make him feel unique compared to the rest of the superheroes.
The LEGO sets refer to

the "elementals" as Sandman, Hydro Man and Molten Man

They don't have Sandman, but Funko's Far From Home stuff does refer to the other two as Hydro-Man, and Molten Man so it does look like they're using them as The Elementals, rather than the Elementals from the comics.

The moment we've all been waiting for: The first post-Endgame trailer, complete with its own spoiler warning from the guy who keeps saying spoilers!

This removes any lingering doubt about when the film takes place (I know it was officially announced already but I've seen some people express doubt). Nice to see that they're directly dealing with the effects of Endgame which hopefully means they'll deal with how apparently all of Peter's friends were dusted.

However, I didnt expect Mysterio to come from an alternate universe. The Elementals aren't a surprise, but Quentin Beck, too, is a surprise. I still wonder if he's still scamming them as is his modus operandi, but it seems more of a stretch now. Plus, a good and proper look at the fishbowl!

As I predicted way back when Homecoming came out, MJ figured out on her own that Peter is Spider-Man. :D

Given it is a story about Mysterio, I wouldn't take anything in the trailer as fact - even that the Elementals even exist.

Decent :techman:

Well, I did say I thought he could still be scamming them. I just figured Fury would have some way of telling whether he's from our universe or not. Unless...

The Chamelon is disguised as Fury...

While with Mysterio in the story - we could both see real fury and fake fury. So we know that Fury tries to contact him - it could well be that when he catches up with Spider-man it's not him.

Given we all expect Mysterio to be the bad-guy a bigger twist is that this version is completely trueful.

Nice that the trailer indicated the Snap is bringing the Muliti-verse in so that the door open for FF & X-Men among others. Also I love how MJ knows he's Spider-Man and her character is going to be written like an idiot you can't see the truth even when it right in front of their faces.

Ok, now they've got my attention.

As "over" the MCU as I am, this looks like a "return" to the kind of storytelling that got me to fall in love with the MCU back when it was fresh and that made me a fan of the Spider-Man character nearly 25 years ago, and I now have an incentive to care again.

The chances that they don't just straight reboot both of these from the ground up as being on marvel earth is pretty much zero I'd think?

They will be total reboots (no choice with FF) but as a MCU story point be told through a Multi-Verse as I can't see how they can do X-Men on Earth Prime IMO. Deadpool might be the only one who keeps what we know but I think Disney will keep Deadpool away from the MCU.

I still like the idea that FF brought Avengers Tower in Home-Coming.

X-Men could be complicated given the situation, though I still think them being 'marvel earth prime' is the more likely option.

But yeah, Fantastic Four will just be a young family getting their powers for the first time. There's no reason at all why they need to be from anywhere else.

We shall see how it happens. Dark Phoenix comes out June 7th. Spider-man July 4th. I will bet MONEY that one of the two (or both) will refer to each other in some post-credits scene.

Deadpool is coming to MCU, but Disney is not going to market it as Disney movie and it will keep it's R rating. Disney execs are not idiots. PG-13 Deadpool is worse than no Deadpool at all.

Yup, that's entirely fair. There's no way this is all being played straight.

On the other hand, I really like the notion of the Snaps creating openings to alternate universes. So perhaps that part is true and the Elementals are from there but then Beck gets wind of them somehow and decides to pretend to also be from there.

Nah, I would be shocked if that happened. X-Men will be treated as a separate entity until they're formerly introduced into the MCU...five years from now. Feige has made it clear that they already had five to seven years worth of plans set before the Fox deal was official, which seems to indicate we won't see the X-Men anytime soon. Which, honestly, I'm happy about. We need a break from them before they get reintroduced.

In the Spiderman trailer they officially introduce concept of multi-verse. If that doesn't spell "X-Men" I don't know what does. If they were to completely reboot X-Men, 5 years is not nearly enough. It's not a single character, it a whole race of people. It would be very difficult to retcon X-men into MCU, in one year or even five. But with multi-verse, the door is wide open, right now! Not rebooted X-men. They same x-men as they are now (actors, characters). Will they do it? Don't know. Can they do it if they wanted to? Oh absolutely.

Then you'll be losing that bet.
Maybe, but won't it be fun, if my theory is actually true! The signs are there:

Maybe it doesn't mean anything, maybe it stands for “mutant containment unit".... Or maybe it stands for MCU is coming, you can't hide from it!
