Spider-Man: Far From Home anticipation thread

TDKR isn't really relevant to that sort of complaint at all, imo. Catwoman isn't really a villain at all, Scarecrow is just a cameo, same as in TDK, and Bane and Talia are working together intimately so their stories line up quite smoothly. .

Quite correct.

Like the Other Winter Soldiers or the Mandarin?
Mysterio being the "Avengers-level hero" and Spiderman the "Street Level Hero" strikes me as what they'll probably be do with Spiderman realizing he prefers to stay out of the limelight.

That's why I would rather see Spider-Man not have any association with the cosmic or world-threatening plots going forward. The character's greatest stories were always more grounded and serious, as opposed to shoving him in challenged comics such as Secret Wars.

Am I the only one that gets "Spider-Man, Spider-Man, far, far from home" ala Have Gun Will Travel in his head?

...yeah, I thought so...

I dunno, I think Spiderman is fine in cosmic threats, it's just he should be part of a team when that happens.

But I feel like a big problem is a lot of the kind of things I'd like to see Spider-Man involved in. The romance, living on his own, and so on are inappropriate for Tom's character.

The high school spiderman is actually quite limited.

I don't know about that--personally, I enjoy smaller and more intimate super-hero stories as well as the globe shaking ones. The first Iron Man was a great film. I would like to see something in that vein for the inevitable third Spider-Man film.

Compare to the Talia twist in TDKR, wherein no one was that upset because everyone saw it coming a mile away.

True story: When I first starting working on the novelization for TDKR I wasn't allowed to read the last fifteen pages of the script. But, yes, I figured "Miranda" was Talia and deliberately avoided writing any scenes from her POV so that I wouldn't have to do any rewriting if and when Warner Bros. finally let me read the ending. :)

I'd hope for Black Cat in the next Spider-Man movie but, well, she's getting her own movie.

Or maybe Ven....no.

Morbiu....no.

Silver Sab...no.

Dammit!

Wait, Mister Negative isn't getting his own movie! Perfect!

You know it's entirely possible that the elementals could actually be the elementals AND Mysterio is using them to pull a fake hero con job.

For example: what if Mysterio has some actual magical artifacts, one of which allows him to summon and banish these elemental beings? So he summons one, puts on a light show like he's fighting it, then promptly banishes it. But what if they don't like being jerked around like this? What if he looses control of them?

I mean I'm totally fine with the whole thing being a fake-out as I have zero interest in the elementals; I'm just illustrating that if they were so inclined, they could have their elemental fake-out cake and eat it too....and I loved the Trevor/Mandarin twist. I'll take that over some generic "yellow terror" stereotype any day.

From what I've read, this seems to be a likely plot to the movie.

So Mysterio is a good guy?
They've been implying he's a good guy in all the trailers, too, but that doesn't mean that's what will happen. Him being an associate of Fury is new and harder to reconcile, but being a bad guy pretending to be a good guy is classic Mysterio MO. If he doesn't turn in this movie, then, at the very least, he'll be a good guy set up to go bad in the future, like Mordo from Dr. Strange. No way he'll just be a good guy and stay that way. He's Mysterio.

My guess is that Mysterio becomes a surrogate for Tony Stark and one of the themes will be about what to do if one of your heroes turns out to be a lying piece of shit. Seems like it would gel pretty well with the movie generally being about Peter needing to grow up

So apparently most everyone in Parker's school was dusted, yeah? Since they all haven't aged a day. That should be an interesting dynamic for FFH, how they all fit back into the world after being dusted for 5 years.

That's assuming that FFH happens after the Snap and not before Infinity War
