Speculation on other Starships we might encounter?

"With what I've heard of this place, there's no way my Lorca could've survived. My Lorca is dead." (very paraphrased)

However, if he is alive, what's cooler than coming back and finding out they named a ship after you?
Naming two ships after you.
He soon will be, he's very ill. They can keep a placeholder on the ship name for a little while.
I'd rather the next show be set in the 25th century aboard the USS Lorca ;)

Star Trek Online calls Mirror Lorca's manoeuvre to save Corvan II in Lamb's Cry the 'Lorca Manoeuvre'

But that was created and named before the Dev team knew he was from the Mirror Universe. They were in the dark like the rest of us.

In-universe, it's obvious that Lorca's backstory is classified, and his heroic save will be remembered by the Corvanites at least (officially, Lorca will be the heroic Discovery Captain, KIA during the Klingon War). Even if all the mirror stuff is known by STO times, the maneuver will be noted as Lorca's for generations.

Until he comes back ;)

might be time for a new thread dedicated to the ships we've seen and will be seeing in star trek: discovery.

but still here are some renders of the USS kerala and a couple klingon ships (veg'largh, "D-7", and bslth) from a VFX artist at pixelmondo.

loving the kerala:

and props to the veq'largh for actually looking vaguely klingon:

not sure what's going on with the D-7 (#notmyD-7):

more here.
Did anyone happen to save whatever else was at that link? Because it seems to be gone now.

I wonder if it will be a new class or one of the ones we already know.

John Eaves said he designed like 50-60 ships for the show or something.

Now that we've seen a Constitution class and established that lineage does indeed exist, I'd like to see more designs in line with Franz Joseph / TOS ships (cylindrical nacelles, more secondary hulls, etc...). There were far too many Miranda-style ships in Season 1.

I wonder if the Oberth could have existed in a TOS design configuration prior to the first time we see the class in 2285. Starfleet must have more than a few small, lightly-crewed starships devoted purely to scientific survey expeditions floating around during the time of both DSC and TOS.
