Speculation on other Starships we might encounter?

That MSD doesnt look like either the Discovery nor the Shenzhou.....

The MSD depicts a tiny ship. It would be interesting to see the Shenzhou portrayed as such...

Eaves supposedly had the test pilots thing going from the very start - he mentioned a USS Glenn of Mercury class that we're yet to see. Also, if it's going to be thematic that way (pilot-named ship of spacecraft-named class and vice versa), we might assume the Europa will be of a thematically named class that's neither Walker (obviously!) nor Mercury (unless the theme in fact is heavenly bodies and it all goes down in flames).

As for reimagining Kirk's ship, Trek has reimagined, rebooted and remorsed half a dozen times. It has never had the guts to reimagine TOS.

And really, there isn't a relevant viewership segment that would oppose the TOS ship. This is a Star Trek spinoff. People incapable of stomaching the profound silliness that is Star Trek won't feature in the demographics anyway.

USS Glenn of the Mercury Class! Oooooohhhhhh! *Drools*
And I agree that I think they would have a hard time re-imagining the Classic Constitution Class.
I think my dream ship to see (Which would never happen in a Ba-Zillion years) would be for CBS to politely ask Alec Peters and Sean T if they could borrow their Ares Class design. That thing just screams TOS and Kick Ass at the same time. *sigh*

Hmmm... still doesnt seem to match up to what we've seen on the Shenzhou...
Ship X has nacelle slung way way back...while the Shen does too. its not as drastic as this. Also..no main deflector shown on display... plus I'm not convinced that is a bridge below... OK.. Maybe I'm wrong.. but it just seems a bit off. Maybe the fellas that make the displays and the Model makers dont consult each other if there's changes made..

Edit.. Hmmm maybe those Nacelles ARE that far back.. maybe I'm being convinced.. *Peers intently at screen,,,, hoping to glean information*

Also, it's a simplified schematic diagram meant to show key locations on the ship, I'm sure it's taking some liberty, i.e. moving nacelles a bit to the side and the like, to show the most important sections.

I do, but Deck 1 looks to be like about a meter from floor to ceiling... reminds me of Being John Malkovich. (Now there are storytelling possibilities.)

Well I dont mind a bit of an update.. but IMO I truly hope they steer clear of the Obscenity IMO called USS Enterprise from the JJverse.. it still hurts me to look at it for too long.

I also do not like that design, its the proportions. If you move the neck forward it actually looks 10 times better

Hmm.. Based on Jonathan Frakes' leak... perhaps it will be...

the ISS Enterprise.

I don't know about tiny. That's the same number of decks as the Miranda, for example, and a couple more than the NX.

That's just it, though - the Miranda saucer with its upper and lower bulges is some 10-11 decks thick already, depending. This ship has a saucer only four decks thick, plus the lower superstructure.

This makes the MSD ship basically a bit smaller than NX-01 in saucer diameter, it seems. Not a bad thing at all, except perhaps for the window rows in the structure that connects the pylons...
