Space The Final frontier? huh?

...Especially when that series is our primary and almost sole source to the issues of interest here, such as the earliest days of space exploration by the various parties.

Certainly this is one area where ENT actually did pretty well. We got über-cool Vulcan ships and nicely alien and annoying doctrines that go a long way to explaining why Vulcans didn't achieve the same things humans later did. We saw local conflicts that limited the growth of the local players.

Also, we witnessed adventures not really different from the TOS or TNG ones, which is actually highly logical: space shouldn't have been very different in the 22nd, 23rd and 24th centuries just because a few local species were making technological advances.
