Space Slug scene in The Empire...

The one thing that bugs me about that whole scene is when they leave the Falcon and go outside the ship they are still in the vacuum of space, why don’t the explode or something.
Lucas my have had some very good weed to come up with that scene.

Weren't they wearing breath masks when they went outside? So basically there wasn't enough atmo to breathe but the space slug's exhalations was enough that their eyeballs wouldn't freeze and explode.

You gotta figure there isn't a lot of nutrition in your average asteroid. And I'd hate to see it's droppings.

Maybe it was just hanging out there while, er, molting or something (which isn't any less preposterous, but hey, giant space critters are hardly unique to SW.)

Han Solo said in New Hope: "I've been to one side of the galaxy and back & have seen many things....."

He knew what the creature was.
If that's the case then if all that species lived in asteroids, he wouldn't have entered a cave in an asteroid knowing they live there. So we can assume asteroids aren't their normal home.

As far as what it eats, how do you think the Mynocks got in it's belly?
