Space Battleship Yamato 2202

Pre-orders for Chapter 2 of Yamato 2199 are already up on Amazon Japan. With the yen low verse the dollar, it comes out to around $64 with shipping. Ordered my copy already.

Still no subtitles, but because of what I do, I need to have these sooner than later. Information is important when attempting to make a playable game, even on table top. The scale chart above is useful for showing players how big things are relative to each other for times when the model kits and miniatures are not in scale (or in the case of this series, are no longer in scale).

Will be game testing on Sunday a hopefully convention runnable version of the opening battle in Chapter 1 on Yamato 2202 between Allied Earth-Gamilas forces and the Comet Empire. The game itself won't be until September, so I will be able to get more information out of Chapter 2 before that happens, and maybe some clues for Chapter 3, which I would expect to come out either at the end of September or October.

I had no idea the discs were out. Kind of disappointed that fansubbers aren't jumping on this one, even if the fansub community is pretty much dead.

Hopefully, in about a year or two, Bandai will see the error of their ways in this context and we'll likely see proper dubbed versions. Bad thing is, we need to wait that long for it. :(

Unfortunately I doubt that. Hell, SBY2199 hasn't been dubbed beyond the one episode they did in an attempt to market to series (and get funds to do a complete dub.) IMO - As long a Voyager Entertainment is in control of the U.S. distro rights, we're probably screwed on any English language versions either, Subbed or Dubbed. :(

The subbing or dubbing of Yamato 2202 is very much a wait and see thing. With the projected Star Blazers live action movie in the near future, the Japanese might be betting on being able to market that and their newer series together, thus the already existing Star Blazers 2202 titling and the complete lack of subtitles (of any kind) on the Japanese discs.

That they had subtitles on the Yamato 2199 discs seems to have basically sunk all their efforts to get a distributor last time around, even with their attempt to get a dubbed version sold.

In other news, the Asteroid ring and defense system are making a return to the show after being missing from Yamato 2199. It should show up someplace in Chapter Two given that Megahouse is making a new Yamato 2202 version of Yamato with the ring, and the main art designer tweeted a painting of Yamato uncovering itself from the asteroids while firing most of its weapons and charging the wave motion gun.

It is region blocked, but there are ways around that.

Still waiting for more with Chapter Two coming in June and the BD in July.

And the waiting didn't take long.

July can't come quick enough now....I don't care if I don't get subtitles at this point. I get Earth ships in action.

Well it's still subbed in Italian...

Its a start. With even an Italian script, an English subber can work with it. But it will happen....at some point.

But for now...Yamato is loose and the Cosmo Navy can't stop her. That Comet Empire fleet certainly won't stop her if she was able to plow through much better trained Gamilas fleets to get to Iscandar.

It is definitely December 2202. Its Christmas season on Planet 11. One of the Gamilas kids has a Yamato toy.

That is a lot of Earth battleships. A lot of brand new Earth battleships. With wave motion guns. Something the Earth was not suppose to made, but first five Andromeda, now a dozen or more other battleships as well as the Andromeda-class...and Yamato rebuilt. Aside from a very, very few things....anything that gets caught by those ships using their wave motions guns are doomed.

Suh-weet! I remember almost being late for the bus every morning as a kid because it was a close shave when I had to get my daily fill of Star Blazers.

I watch a lot of anime subbed in English.

Soooo... What? :shifty:
Just curious how someone at Bandai thinks that the market-share of potential Italian-speaking customers, globally, in any way outnumbers potential English-speaking customers to warrant an Italian sub first? Honestly, I could see it subbed in one of any number of Chinese or Indian dialects first, based on population, or even French, based on spoken usage world-wide before ever going to Italian, with all deference to our Italian friends here - no offense intended. Just doesn't make any bloody sense...

Seriously, who's running the show over there who makes these wonky business model decisions?

Ah...well...yep, that does make sense if that's the case. Maybe they have some talented polyglots on the payroll to do a decent English sub while they're at it, without any "all your base" shenanigans. All we can do is hope, I guess...
