Space Battleship Yamato 2202

I'm not familiar with the later iterations of the original Yamato series, but with all this concentration on the Andromeda class, one wonders if they're keeping a surprise cameo of other new ship designs... I've wanted to see a revised version of the smaller cruiser with "only" one wave motion gun:

Also, "Apollo Norm"? That ship's captain also a fan of Cheers? Looking to have everyone shout "Apollo Norm!" every time the ship enters the ol' battlefield?

You mean something like this?

Also this happened this morning. The first 12 minutes or so of the first episode. There is a small bit cut out by Bandai Channel. It was Gatlantis forces blowing up what look like an island monastery, than invading with missile mecha killing monks, a bit of blood, and Zordar talking about Teressa followed by the start of her prayer.

The Borodino is considered a dreadnaught now? Interesting... it does look a bit beefier and seems to have what appears to be some extra missile launchers over the first bridge but other than that, looks pretty much the same. Still, some beautiful artwork. I need to start collecting these. There are more and more coming out every week now.

And the last bit of that first scene...:eek:

Starsha is gonna be pissed!

Not sure if she's considered a dreadnaught, or that is just her name, "Dreadnaut".

The Andromeda and Yamato are much bigger. Dreadnaut here is only 250 meters long. She's practically a cruiser next to them. But by 2220 , the two main Earth ship type are a Dreadnaught and the Super Andromeda types, wit the new Flagship type Blue Noah, and smaller or older ships still around, like the older Andromeda type ship "A12", Battleship Pennsylvania (Arizona type) Battleships Yamato and Musashi (Yamato typed), and some old Isokaze style torpedo boats;

I was not aware of this new series. Really cool to see this will be coming. I did some searching and it seems that Amazon Video will have it available on Feb 25th as well. That 12-minute video looks really good. I do hope Amazon has this on the 25th!

Was anyone eagle eyed enough to spot a date this battle takes place on any of the Earth screens?

@Ithekro, out of curiosity, where are you finding these orthos? I was looking through the mechanic pages of the yamato2202.net site and the only thing I could find are 3/4 views. The do have lots of new interesting pics of Andromeda and her sister ships up there now, but no orthos like that.

A lot of the new mechanical info is coming from Makoto Kobayashi's twitter. For example, he answered my question about the Dreadnaut's length: it's 250 meters. He has also posted these pics of the Andromeda carrier variant.

Here's the updated version of my size chart.

In watching the battle repeatedly....Kodai's ship, the Yuunagi, destroys at least 12 Comet Empire warships while weaving through their formations. Not all vessels destroyed can be identified due to them having exploded off screen and their wreckage not being seen through the expanding ball of smoke and flames. Confirmed Kodai took out two high speed carriers, two destroyers, and a Medaruusa battleship, plus seven more exploding ships, and some fighters. Almost every ship taken down was with one blast from one turret each ship. He was getting one kill per shot, just like with Yamato. I guess that is the benefit of the shock cannons backed up by a reliable Earth-Iscandarian style wave motion engine.

Also his gunners and helmsman must be very coordinated as they are weaving about a bit up-down, and left to right., while lining up turrets with limited elevation abilities to either side of the ship. The only battery not engaging is the aft battery, but all three forward batteries are engaging multiple targets rapidly in the three passes we see of Yuunagi engaging the Comet fleet in general.

Compare this to the two Comet ships that come at the Gamilas-Earth fleet independently. Both are firing wildly as fast as possible and hitting a single ship as they do so. Yuunagi seems to be hitting with every shot and every shot seems to kill a warship. Farragut, the cruiser that mutually destroys one of those independently operating Comet ships, fires a few time, missing by a few meters before hitting with one shot to kill the destroyer, but takes one of the seemingly random shots in return.

Confirmation from Japan. No subtitles on the Yamato 2202 BD at this time.
Hah, just came here for the first time in ages to post this. Strange decision to make, but maybe there are some bitter feeling about their plans all falling apart in America.

Or they have a new plan. There is a Star Blazers movie that is suppose to begin filming this year.
