That's good to hear.It appears it was some sort of electrolyte imbalance which is being treated. I guess his trip to Italy for the 40th Anniversary of Space Pirate Captain Harlock was a bit taxing on his 81 year old body. But he's doing better at last report.
A fan made a front view!Lots of good stuff there. Excellent find.
I’m currently working on orthos for the Amaterasu right now and that thing is ... quite challenging. I did a brief search to see if anyone did views other than the profile that we’ve already seen and nothing. Took a stab at it yesterday and those angled turrets and side mount platforms are breaking my brain spatially, trying to figure out how they’re supposed to look. Not giving up though. The challenge has steeled my resolve. I found photos of an excellent model that someone built around a stock Andromeda and it’s helped quite a bit. I don’t think I would even make the attempt if it didn’t exist, it’s so weird. Will post here when done.
From my experiences most Japanese artists can understand simple English, so you don't need to fiddle with Google translate.Ooooh! That is NICELY done! I wonder if I should hold off on this one to see if others like it appear for the other views.
I really wish I understood Japanese. I'd reach out to this person in a heartbeat to see if they have any others, but I'm afraid that if I use Google Translate I'll probably wind up asking them if they have any dried apricots I can purchase.
The Kongo types are better rounded to still be effective cruisers/battlecruisers with the newer fleet ships.
By the way, what is it the purpose of the hole on the bow?
That's the bow positron cannon, present on the Kongou and Murasame. It has the same caliber as the regular guns (so on the Kongou-class it would be a 360mm positron shock cannon and the Murasame 200mm). The 2201-refit enlarged the bow cannon for both the Kongou and Murasame to 460mm and 280mm respectively.Always wondered that myself. These are pre-WMG designs, so likely not that. Maybe a lesser main cannon or primary missile tube. Or, since we’ve never actually seen it used as such, we can go the Trek route and say it’s a sensor package or forward navigational deflector. Could also be a reverse thruster, for rapid all-stop or withdrawals.
No, sadly.Have we ever seen them using that front part as a cannon onscreen? I honestly don’t remember.
