Or do what Burton's evidently doing with Dark Shadows, of course, and just go for all-out comedy. Space: 1999 has more of a Will Ferrell vibe to it, though.

What about Paul Rudd as Koenig? I think he'd be more fun.

Who'd be good writing this as a comedy, and also who'd be a good suggestion for director. I'd prefer a comedy in the style of Galaxy Quest where the space situation is taken seriously to the point of comedy. I found Leslie Nielson and company hysterical in 'The Creature Wasn't Nice'. The alternate title is Naked Space. I don't know that it would work for Space:1999.
