Sovereign-Class Starship at Chin 'Toka?

Riker says they produce (or produced?) Ketracel White. As far as we know, there can only be one customer for White. As Troi says, "why would we be involved with these people?"
Actually, the information Riker and Deanna were reading only said they were rumoured to produce White. Granted, DS9 confirmed the rumour was true, there is wiggle room for the Federation to be ignorant on the matter. Perhaps willfully so, for the sake of cooperation?

The ultimate wording used in the movie (as opposed to the script at TrekCore, the one retaining the stern librarian and certain differences in the descriptions of the Son'a) is

"The Son'a are known to have produced vast quantities of the narcotic ketracel-white."

So we have both knowledge and the past tense. Which is doubly appropriate for a past war that the UFP now can turn a blind eye on.

Thanks for checking, that backs up how I remembered the scene. Fits better in the post-war timeline than during, at least for me.

I can't really see why the Federation would work with a Dominion ally, or at least neutral power known to supply the Jem'Hadar with their lifeblood, during the war. But post-war, when they are desperate for allies (as per Picard's own words), they would be willing to overlook things for the right ends.

After a gruelling war, with millions dead on both sides, a Fountain of Youth would be worth any price.

What was merely rumored was the Son'a packing subspace weapons. One might then speculate that whilst aiding and abetting the enemy, they hadn't actually fought the Federation with their starships yet... Although even that might have been forgiven when so much was at stake.

What was the dialogue in Penumbra? Wasn't it the Klingons attacking the Son'a White facility?

Damar: "The Defiant is returning to Federation space. I'm ordering our ships to pursue."
Weyoun: "No. Divert them to the So'na outpost on Devos II."
Damar: "Why?"
Weyoun: "We need their to help protect the new Ketracel White facility. The Federation has been made aware of its location."
Damar: "Can't the Son'a protect it?"
Weyoun: "Are you questioning my orders? That would be foolish."

This dialogue alone would not yet establish the Son'a as White producers, merely potential guardians of the facility.

Nor do we learn what the connection between the Son'a and Devos II might be. "Outpost" sort of suggests "outside main Son'a territory", though.
